Yeah, I like it too, and I don't see it as undermining CH to bring in an experienced, attack-minded coach to take help with that side of the team. For sure Hughton has worked wonders on our defence, but there's more to it than that. I'd argue against Adams though, he's doing a great job with the youngsters, I wouldn't want to disrupt that.

Not sure on either of them, if the rumours about Poyet's sacking are true I would want him close to our club. Zola I'm not convinced by plus I doubt he'd leave Watford with their wealthy Italian owners.

I'm not sure I'm behind sacking Hughton however if he goes I'd like to see someone like Rene Mullensteen or If were really lucky Gus Hiddink. We've already invested in some very good Dutch players. Why not a Dutch manager.

Both are managers used to european football, and challenging for silverware - we're 5-10 years away from that, at least. What we need is someone happy to make the slow progress, our own David Moyes or Tony Pulis. Hughton has the potential to offer us that, in a way that few other managers will. Is he the right man? I'm still prepared to give him more time, but sooner or later something has to give. Whether that's bringing in an attack-minded coach to work underneath Hughton, or a new manager, or even making Hughton DoF, I don't know.
 
One things for sure, let's not second guess McNally
Remember Gunns sacking. Chris will be under more pressure than last year because of the money spent - it means backing but it also means more pressure
I really hope he turns it around and gets the best out of the players

Actually René Meulensteen has never held a Managerial position in any of the top European leagues he's been a manager in Denmark and Russia has spent most of his time in coaching positions at United and Hiddink as I acknowledged is a long shot but is our of work and his Agent has said he would consider "all offers".
 
Well now we'll find out exactly what credible alternatives are available then. If Sunderland can attract them, you'd think we could do, just about. If they sign someone impressive now, we've missed out, but they could easily flounder for a while before making an average appointment.

Was he even in charge for 20 games?

Edit: No he wasn't, 12 games: 3 wins, 3 draws, 6 defeats.
 
I think Roberto Di Matteo will go there tbh. But who ever takes over will have to sort out the mess there and that could take time.
 
I don't get why no club seems to think far enough ahead to have a successor in place straight away.<confused>

Nobody but Saints, that is.
 
A lot of stick on Twitter about Di Canio only having 5 games this season. I actually think they've done the right thing he clearly isn't going to turn it around he has no idea how to manage Premier League players and has probably lost the dressing room already because of his public criticism of his players.

Does anyone actually believe he was going to turn it around? I don't, which is why I think it's the right decision.
 
This is actually rather bad news for us I fear. I was hoping they'd give him until Christmas to completely **** up their season, but if they bring in someone half decent they might do ok from now on.

I think whoever they take on is going to have a tough job, Sunderland should have sacked him over the summer that way they could have got someone in and he could have selected his own squad. As it stands whoever takes over has got to get a bunch of players PDC has selected to work together and get points on the board, I don't envy them!
