Reasons for changing the name

All you need is a petition backed by the vast majority of supporters saying the sales of any kit with the name Hull Tigers will be boycotted. These people have to forecast good future sales figures as well as current ones and even the threat of a boycott will be enough to make them **** themselves.

I doubt it. The potential income isn't about kit sales to current fans, it's supposedly about expanding the whole commercial side to a new market.

However, none of that is a justification in favour of the name change. As yet, I've still to see one.

The reasons why some feel the name change is wrong have been posted on a number of threads, but as some seem to want to support the name change. I'd be intrigued to know why.

Anyone care to offer a considered reason why they think the name should change?

There are 3 viewpoints here.

1. Will not support the name change
2. Will support the name change
3. Will not oppose the name change.

When you understand the difference between viewpoints 2 and viewpoints 3, you will have your answer.

Why is it on those with the positive view to make their case?

Surely the owners are the ones who have made the decision and it is their club to do as they wish with – within normal business and FA/PL contractual constraints; so if anyone has to prove why they hold a view, it must surely be those in opposition to the decision of the owners and decision makers.

What is this bunkum about pushing the onus for justification onto those who don’t embrace the campaign?

However there is a lot of circumstantial evidence that the opposition isn't as strong as you would like it to be (and could be weakening more as the new name becomes more familiar). So you have to organise the support you have quickly and try to speak with one voice.

they KNOW that we wont notice, in the same way that if this was originally announced DURING the football season we wouldn't have noticed that much.

I think that we ALL can agree, the only way that we will attract success, is to be successful on the pitch.

an asian businessman is not gonna go "ooh tiger - invest!"
they only want to invest in a major team in PL that has had success.

From where I sit the opposition seems to be getting stronger.

I see you haven't answered my question. I'll rephrase it, if we become Hull Tigers or Hull City Tigers what do you think our new nickname should be?

Now let me ask you a question, apart from emotive reasons, what justifiable reason do you have for believing that the name change will be detrimental to Hull City?
