The reasons why some feel the name change is wrong have been posted on a number of threads, but as some seem to want to support the name change. I'd be intrigued to know why.

Anyone care to offer a considered reason why they think the name should change?

ive tried a few times to give my reason why we should support the club in its move but the upshot of it is that if it proves successful (financially)
then the name will stay or morph even further .

I was happy to allow the change to take place initially as to me if the master plan fails it wont hurt the club to return to its traditional name
The problem is if (and i cant really see it happening) somehow being called Hull Tigers is sexy to a rich sensible businessman and turns our team and stadium into a super club .

Lets face it Chelsea , Man City and Liverpool fans are a bunch of miserable moaning bastards anyway so why sell our club down the river for a chance of success , only to moan at finishing 3rd

"IF" is the operative word in all of that and the reason I started the thread. I've seen no evidence what so ever that the name change will achieve anything, or even that decent research has been carried out to find out what the outcome's liable to be.

There's plenty of evidence to show it's liable to fail.

In any event, gaining a few eastern shirt sails will be wiped out by the drop in sales in the traditional market.

This is how an American advises choosing a soccer team to follow:

You should support the team with the colors you like the most OR the coolest crest, because no rational reason will be good enough for the angsty eunuchs from across the pond that so diligently attempt to guard the game from ..everyone?

I'm sure having a name resembling one of their own sports teams will be an added pull.

Now can you merge this waste of space with the other name change thread please?

Nope, this is specifically for the anti-protest types to make a clear point.

Given the number of posts a few are hurling into the other thread to oppose the campaign, it's notable how quiet this one is.

I've put my reasons about 4 times on here, but here goes again.

First I don't like Hull Tigers because we are a city and we should want people to know that.

However Hull City Tigers is a name that encapsulates everything we are proud of about our club. It is a name that includes all of the shortened versions we call ourselves and it also includes our impressive and iconic nickname.

Balance that against Hull City AFC and everyone on this forum knows the suffix AFC was never naturally used by our supporters as a reference to the club, until now.

I want Hull City AFC to remain our official club name and be engraved on cups etc. (if we ever win one) because historically that is still our name, but personally I would be happy for the club to be generally known as Hull City Tigers.

But it's not Hull City Tigers, it's Hull Tigers. Is that as acceptable?

Happy has posted a comment on Obi's page. It pretty succinctly cover my position. Basically, I'm willing to give AA the benefit of the doubt and see what comes of it - nothing ventured nothing gained. The basic marketing logic behind the idea is sound, but that's not to say it'll work here. He's paid a shed load of money for the club and stuck a lot more in since so I'm not going to stand up and say 'you've no right to change the name' when as owner he does.

Whilst i don't therefore have pages of reasons to say why the name should be changed, conversely I've seen nothing in the way of any reasons as to why why we shouldn't other than tradition/heritage, though I entirely accept that that is a very good reason to leave things as they are given the emotional attachment and have to the name.

I'm not in favour of the name change, but then neither am I on the verge of a nervous breakdown about it. Now, some of you will shout that down as being a fence sitter/an aa arselicker yadda yadda yadda and I couldn't give a rats arse, as for the most part it'll be the same ones that have nothing else better to do. Some will no doubt also bang on about how this is some way makes me and others not a fan as we're not opposing a direct attack on our legacy and heritage (as they see it) Again, each to their own.

If AA wants to change the name, it's up to him. I don't personally mind HCT and I do not like HT as it sounds like a baseball team. However, the reality is that we're no longer a fluffy cuddly family group where we're all at the heart of everything (if we ever were), rather City, especially now we're in the prem, is a business. The Allams are not custodians or trustees for us, they own the club, run the club and can thus pretty much do what to want with it. We may not like it, indeed some may hate some of their plans, but sadly no matter what people do to oppose any plans are unlikely to succeed in changing AA's mind.

I hold my hand up and admit I've been wumming which, in fairness, has been out of order given the feelings some have in the subject. Most of the wumming, however, has been driven by the fact that there is a piss take amount of threads on this - surely 1 to debate and 1 covering what the opponents plan to do would suffice - and also that as soon as anyone has the audacity to say 'meh, I'm not too fussed', they get lambasted.

The whole subject has turned into a war of words between some on here. I for my part am going to try and stop the wumming. That'll be a lot easier if

    A) all future threads could be merged so that the pages isn't filled with the same subject
    B) the debates (many of which start off quite interesting) don't degenerate into petty name calling

Right, I'm off to watch Disney with the little uns before going out for the day. Have a good day all!

So, as yet not ONE solitary, justifiable reason to support the name change and a couple of those disrupting other threads saying deep down they're against it.

Come on, there's been so many words with not much said. Surely there's a logical reason to support the name change?

This thread's for those not opposing the name change to give a reason (other than apathy) for their stance.

    Speak up.

So as that's what Mr Allam says it will be, that's you opposed to the name change?

Mr Allam wants what he wants, the supporters want what they want and even though he's playing hard-ball now I suspect there will eventually be a compromise name and that should be Hull City Tigers.

I am opposed to Hull Tigers.
