These people that aren't bothered about the name change, seem scared to death of the protest gaining more success than it already has.

I'm all for debate and differing views, the world would be frightfully dull if we agreed on everything, but the 'you're not a proper fan unless you vociferously oppose the name change and are willing to tattoo "no to HT" on your gonads' mentality is at best narrow minded, at worst plain fecking stupid

Obi. The people I meet and the posters on other boards are in general behind the scheme, most want to actually feel they're contributing in some way.

For some peculiar reason, this board seems to attract a noisy minority intent on disrupting any threads discussing the change, spending a lot of time trying to say they're not bothered. I reckon it's just a plea for attention. They've not come up with any logic for the name change or why we shouldn't keep the status quo.

I guess what I'm saying is, don't waste too much time on them. Focus on the issue.

You're not debating though, you're just whining about people doing what they believe to be right. You don't feel the same, that's your choice, nobody is saying you have to think any other way but interrupting threads is achieving nothing what so ever.

You don't agree, that's fine. Start a thread and post why exactly you're in favour, or not against the name change, but don't just post the same nonsense to disrupt threads.

the problem is in the maths though ,
No matter the number of polls that suggest people won't support the name change , when it comes down to actual action
there is a real difference in percentages of those prepared to put REAL effort in saving the clubs traditional name.

I dont think this will change , i also feel it will be hard to make a simple chant work, as lets face it only a quarter of the stadium (probably a tenth)
will join in with the singing - so in my honest opinion any protest is doomed , not from the lack of effort of those involved ,
but only by the lack of effort of those of us not involved -

Curious as to why you haven't stickied the what must be 50-60 threads on the exact same subject ( the name change) that are cluttering up the board yet as soon as 2 mildly similar threads appear, you're merging quicker than some posters jump on a bandwagon ?

If there weren't so many ****e threads appearing on the name saying the same crap, I'd not feel compelled to say the same crap on each thread too!

I actually respect and admire Obi for what he's doing, and how he's going about it, whilst disagreeing with his view. Unfortunately he's attracted people who will shout down, belittle and discount anyone elses views on our heritage that doesn't agree with theirs. This campaign needs support. Lots of it. Confronted with gobshites like OLM who are never *ever* wrong, people will go the other way.

You're right about this board in one respect though, lots of people have their own minds (mostly) and will use the forum to voice their opinions, which I'm happy to say on Not606 are rich and varied. It's a double edged sword.

The heritage cards been played a lot, in fact it seems the basis for the "anti's" main argument, the response to someone who really has been around a long time and knows what heritage means to him really reflects badly on those associated with the campaign.

At least you realise you're posting crap. A quick glance and this name change you don't give a **** about takes up most of the 400+ posts you've made and you've still basically said **** all.

Opinions are welcomed, but the 'opposition' seem short on them. They just seem against those opposing the name change.


I've yet to see any good reason to change the name. Surely that's the starting point from those trying to oppose a campaign?

I don't like the name change, but I'm willing to let them give it a try. If it works then great, if not I doubt he'd stick to it knowing he'd gain favour by giving us the original back.

For what it's worth I don't think it will work, or at least not yet anyway, not until/if we're a decent, established PL outfit anyway. I do think closer to home though, it will be a pull to the kids, and if it gets 5/6/7 year olds etc. on board from an early age because 'its cool to be a tiger rarrr' that is only good for the club going forwards, even if its a massive failure abroad and we're back to Hull City AFC within 3 or 4 years. When those cool tiger kids grow up they'll buy tickets for Hull City instead of maybe paying sky to watch Man U, Liverpool or TWS.

I'm all for people protesting against it, as I'd much rather it didn't happen, but if Allam refuses to budge, I just hope fans don't take things too far and cause unrest and separation between club and fans, that will transfer to the team and if we're going to push on from the golden position we find ourselves in, that would be a snap on spanner wedged between the gears.

We don't want to end up like Newcastle now do we...

As to the Peoples Front of Judea or Judean People's Front I don't think we'll get to that. I don't think in a few months time people will be making as much fun out of the campaign as they have.

The aim of the campaign to persuade more people that they can make a difference in saving our name. It may even persuade Assem Allam. If it doesn't it might persuade the Premier League that Hull City AFC has not complied with the rules on consultation and chuck out the name Hull Tigers.

There wasn't many Tiger chants yesterday. There was a lot of City chants, just like last season. To those in favour of the name change do you really think that those supporters are not part of our footballing community and should be put on the scrap heap by changing the name to Hull Tigers?

At least you are consistent in how you talk down to folk and use nonsense to be selective in your arguments. By and large, I see posters making their own points for and against the name change or the campaign (they can be separated as issues on here), indeed, they all do it frequently. One poster has joined our board like some sort of messiah and opens threads on his involvement in the campaign and that draws comment, and why not?

Why do you feel it necessary to take so much effort to make your somewhat narrow opinion known? I guess that was a rhetorical question, as I don't wish to trade posts with you (I didn't address you, but you seem to accept you fit the bill). You should try talking to folk, rather than down to or at, it might just lighten things up.

if you seriously believe that, then why not prove it?

There is a petition against the name change, it has about 4,000 signature so far, why not start a petition in support of the name change and see how much support you get for it?

I'll even give you a tenner if you get past 40 signatures.

Those against have already donated a four figure sum, how much do you think you could raise in a campaign to support our owners plan for a name change?

On CI and AN the support is universal, I have over 1,000 followers on Twitter, almost all City fans and only one has said they don't support the campaign and even that is only because they think the Allam's have invested so much and should be free to do what they like.

The only people who seem happy with this change, are a small minority on here and a couple of people on Facebook who have difficulty spelling their own name.

Suggesting that those who support this campaign are in the minority is utter bollocks.

It does make you wonder why the topic has not been stickied, as the threads are frequent and repetitive (opposing views being 're-stated, quite fairly). I am not surprised though, that your point was ignored in favour of attacking you on the grounds of repetition.
