I would go for Long and Gedo as the strike partnership....great speed and strength combination....Sagbo as back up.
Even if we're only regularly playing with one up front the likelihood is that we'll use at least a couple of the others as subs most games. A lone striker isn't likely to last more than 60 minutes and still be effective and if we're chasing the game we're probably going to stick two up top!
I think you're being a bit unfair on Graham, I think he showed on Saturday that with the right set up he can still be a very useful player at this level. Anyway if all goes through it will be great to have the options. I wonder what will happen to Proschwitz?
we really really needed Gedo here with Al Ahly but in the end it is his dream to play in the PL i just hope hull city fans can stop bashing him based on his form when he was injured and give him a chance to show what he can do when he is fit and ready
I'm happy with Gedo. I think he's a natural finisher and can find space. I think the disappointment here is people were looking for a proven PL striker, and a lot of the disappointment is with having a good one lined up and it falling at the last hurdle. If Gedo can rediscover the form of his first few games for us then we'll be fine this year.
I don't see what all the upsets about. Gedo is better than Shane Long anyway and a lot cheaper. He's just as quick, bigger, stronger, good with his head and a great finisher. Just the exact type of striker we were lacking. He will give premier league defenders a hard time.
I was real impressed with him before he picked up that injury. Im glad we signed him. He really helped us get promoted in the final stretch and deserves a chance to play with us in the PL.
How fit is Gedo? He's been injured for 3 months, so don't expect him to be banging in the goals any time soon.
I might be mistaken but he is in the Egypt squad I thought for the upcoming games so he cant be to bad off.
Yes he in the Egyptian squad and should be fit and raring to go against Cardiff. Him and Aluko should be a real handful.
He'll be off the bench to start with, he hasn't played in how long and no pre season, he'll be rusty as Susan Boyles ****. Graham is a better player anyway, Gedo has attributes to be an impact player, I'd suspect it to be that way more often than not.
Good signing IMO. He looked the deal when he started and people were quick to criticise as soon as his performances dipped with his injury. I think Gedo on loan is a good piece of business considering we could have come out of Deadline Day without real striking back-up. Hope he regains full fitness because he's definitely a "give him a chance and he will score" striker, who's proved he's strong and aerial.
As well as the added bonus of having played together before. I expect he will be an impact player, but he'll grab a few goals for us.
Gedo is a Negredo style striker & he would have netted the same type of goal that we saw at Man City. He's clearly more aggressive than poor Prossie, taller than Long and more mobile than Graham.
He'd have scored that one on one with Hart. When you look at the goals he scored last season, he clearly has a good range of finishing and he took his goals against Birmingham really well.
He won some good headers last Season and held his own when in possession against pretty strong and nifty defenders - The goal he scored against Birmingham for example when he out-muscled the defender and ran straight through on goal. Good strength, balance, determination and composure. 4 very good traits for a striker to have. Obviously people will be sceptical about his potential in the Premier League, but sometimes you have to take those risks to unearth a gem (Michu for example). Gedo has always stated his desire about wanting to play in the top-flight so he clearly has the hunger to succeed and prove himself.
