I'm glad we missed out on long, not only asda price was too high, I think Gedo is a very similar but better player anyway.

I disagree, I think Long is an excellent player. You only need to search for Shane Long on twitter to see how many fans at bigger clubs that were in meltdown that we'd potentially signed Long. They've obviously seen him play, I rate him. Not saying Gedo isn't a good signing, I just think Long is better, to have both would have been the icing on the cake.

As well as the added bonus of having played together before. I expect he will be an impact player, but he'll grab a few goals for us.

Gedo and Aluko have never played together before, I don't think so anyway.

We're in one of those 'suck it and see' phases. No more to be said.

Some good news in the Fail:

Hull City striker Gedo could be fit enough to get on the Premier League goal trail in the next two weeks. Although the Egyptian hotshot has linked up with his national side for their final World Cup qualifying group match against Guinea tonight, he will not play any part in the clash.
But the 28-year-old, who scored five key goals in 12 outings last season to help the Tigers clinch their top-flight return, is closing in on a first-team comeback. With Egypt already confirmed as Group G winners and the result now essentially meaningless, their coaching staff have decided to give the prolific hitman, who has 17 goals in 33 games for his country, more time to fully recover from an ankle problem which required surgery at the end of last season.

Having only agreed to rejoin the Tigers on a season-long loan deal from Al-Ahly on deadline day, Gedo is desperate to prove his fitness to boss Steve Bruce. Whilst this weekend’s visit of Cardiff looks to have come too soon for Gedo to feature, the safety-first approach adopted by Egypt means he should be in contention for a place on the bench for the trip to Newcastle next week. However, a more likely chance for a first start of this season could come in the League Cup clash at Huddersfield on September 24.
Although Gedo will be rested by the Pharaohs, City team-mate Ahmed Elmohamady is expected to play at least 45 minutes. With Robbie Brady and Stephen Quinn involved in the Republic of Ireland’s must-win trip to Austria, it means Bruce will be keeping a close watch on tonight’s internationals with one eye on Saturday’s visit of Cardiff.

Whatever happened to that friendly between us a Al-Ahly, which was supposed to be for the victims of the P Said football riots?

Probably cancelled due to ....erm....riots? Not the most stable of places at the moment.

The silly old sod wanted them to play some team called Hull Tigers . . .

SB giving him a glowing report in the mirror, though I guess he has to say this under the circumstances, TWT as Tickles says.

It always does John. As for Gedo i expect him to do rather well once fit. Natural born finsher and most PL defenders wont know what to expect from him at first.

That's what I understood it to be, as part of the pre-season friendly.

Maybe next year John. Just maybe........

According to The Daily Mail Gedo is stuck in Dubai trying to sort his Visa....
"Meanwhile Egypt international Gedo, who did sign on transfer deadline in another loan deal, is still stranded in Dubai attempting to get a visa.
Bruce added: 'The British embassy in Cairo is shut and only open for two days a week then you have to send your passport to Dubai so I don’t know if we will see him before Christmas but he is trying desperately bless him to get here.
'The last I heard he was in Dubai trying to get his visa pushed through there because he can’t come into this country without it.' "
