If we're seriously willing to pay forty million for Suarez, despite the fact that we might not get him, then we should test Dortmund with a similar offer for Lewandowski
Lewandowski is my first choice, has been for ages, but he's going to Bayern.

Michu is no one season wonder. He would probably be the most ideal replacement for Suarez if anything.

Is'nt it just a loan ?

Something i'm particularly happy about with the squad we are left with is i think they are all fighters, we have a group of players who look like they are willing to work hard to get results (aswe saw at the end of last season). We've shipped out people who didn't pull there weight and been left with a hard working core. Now we just need to add some quality depth to this squad and we will be well positioned for this season.
Agree.
But the clearout this Summer has really highlighted (for me) how many mistakes we've made in recent seasons, including the academy I think we've offloaded 23 players now and I really can't remember any team that wasn't in administration ever go through a clearout on that scale.
So yes, credit the club for finding ways of getting rid of players who aren't at the grade we need but remember the errors made, and who knows what impact some of those errors had on players leaving - would Van Per$ie have been desperate to go if we'd bought Mata instead of Gervinho or Rooney instead of Park or maybe just not buying Silvestre, Squilaci, Chamakh, Joel Campbell etc etc etc, players who were never at the level to be able to improve the team.
I'll never change my views on the selfishness of some of those who have left but I do wonder what impact it had on our better players when some of those turned up for training....
I think it will be a mixture of signings and promotions from the youth/reserves over the next few windows. Players like Akpom and Zelalem look like they'll be playing some first team football this season.
Absolutely, some of the youngsters look very decent and if they develop then AW is spot on in that they can make the transition into senior football and become as good as big money signings.
Gustavo looks to be a done deal and I can't believe the Suarez situation will be left as it is for much longer and of course we're in a great position here because no-one else is interested in the player, this should force Liverpools hands.
With Rooney and Fellaini also out there I've not given up on this window, there could yet be some exciting additions for us....
Gustavo would be a great signing for us. And one of Suarez or Rooney along with shifting the deadwood would make this a decent transfer window
According to Futbal Mercado we've made a bid for Benzema...
