show f*ck all of a backbone once again…

    http://www1.skysports.com/football/...uld-back-a-date-switch-for-the-2022-world-cup

FA chairman Greg Dyke says his organisation will back any plan to move the date of the 2022 World Cup.

The tournament is due to be held in Qatar in the summer but Dyke thinks the hot weather there at that time of year will necessitate a switch.

Speaking at a Friday press briefing, he said: "I don't know how many people here have ever been to Qatar in June.

"I have, and the one thing I can tell you is that you couldn't play a football tournament in Qatar in June.

"Even if all the stadia are air-conditioned, which seems in terms of green policy a bit strange, I just don't think it's possible. For the fans, it would be impossible.

"I think it will either have to be moved out of the summer or it will have to be moved to another location. And I suspect the former is more likely than the latter."
    Greg Dyke

"So, I think my position, and I suspect the FA's position, will be you can't play it in the summer in Qatar.

"FIFA therefore has got two choices. You either move it time wise or you move it to another location. I suspect either ends up in some sort of litigation.

"I think it's now genuinely becoming accepted that you can't play it in Qatar in the summer and I think that will be our position.

"I understand the reaction of the Premier League to not want to move it, and I have some sympathy with them. We didn't have to choose to give it to Qatar in the summer, but that's what it is.

"I think it will either have to be moved out of the summer or it will have to be moved to another location. And I suspect the former is more likely than the latter."

Can Fifa not just admit they were bribed, take a hit and then change it…

Everybody knows that it is a bad idea...

I'm all for holding out for European nations to boycott this tournament as it is in no way developing or introducing the game to the mass millions.

    ****ing idiotic

Clearly they didn't even think through any details of the games. How on earth are the leagues going to work?

Should be played in the summer or not at all imo.

This is a prime opportunity for the big lads to make a clean break from FIFA, and start an organisation that actually gives a **** about football.

    That simple.

Sepp Blatter is nothing more than a self serving egotistical **** stain on the human race. The sooner this arsehole is out of any decision making with regards to football, the sooner we will all move forward. I for one would love to know how much he receives per annum, notice i did not say earn for the obvoious reason, but FIFA for some reason wish his salary to remain a secret.

Can`t help feeling a bit sorry for the players in all this. Representing your country (Which ever one it happens to be) is obviously a hell of a thing to have on your CV.

However, domestic matters must come first and the club that pays your wages has first call on your services.

Having the world cup at the same time as the domestic league is simply not practical as I suspect there will be many clubs unwilling to allow their top players to go. That, to me, is not unreasonable. The revenue from even a couple of league places is immense. Even more so if there are relegation issues.

There was nothing wrong with timing of the world cup, the problem is the climate of the country they`ve decided to give it to.

If the FA haven`t got the guts to sort it out then it has to be down to the clubs. Surely it wouldn`t be difficult for the clubs to get together & tell FIFA they can have the world cup when and where they like but if it affects the domestic season then they won`t get the players?

ps, can`t argue with falcons assessment of Blatter. He`s cocked up big style this time imo.

I live in Abu Dhabi which is next door to Qatar and trust me guys to hold a world cup in the height of summer would be almost impossible. I played golf in heat of nearly 50 degrees the other week and I was going around in a cart being supplied with cold towels, ice lollies to cool down the core temperature etc etc. It was brutal, never again. For a footballer to run around for 90 mins in that kind of heat would be mental. Qatar should never have been awarded this world cup, but believe me, it will happen, they are already well advanced with construction...it simply has to move to winter.

Surely if the whole thing goes ahead in winter then the european fans could boycott it though! It'll make for a terrible atmosphere! Though to be honest i couldnt give a **** at the minute.......its 9 years away!

it should never have been given to qater in the first place. its not like they didnt know it was going to be hot. blatter must have got a massive brown envelope to sanction this one. thier is no chance of the fa standing up to fifa, they have proven this in the past. there needs to be big changes at the top of football but while we have these cluless, self serving bureaucrats in charge nothing will change. its a joke that blatter is still head of fifa, we need people in charge who care about the integrity and progression of the game.

Agree with all of you, all fans/clubs could make a stand at the next euro's, imagine a world cup without us capaign or something, no england, italy, spain, france, germany, portugal etc etc, it would be ****

The opportunity is there and there is plenty of time.
Up to the clubs now to tell Blatter to go screw himself.

No brainer for me, it would be a complete disaster and the loss of revenue in beer sales from us alone would hurt, this is the time to make blatter really sweat and he and platini could help each other in assisted suicide
