Wonder how they got the bid in the first place with their air cons stadiums etc they said they would build, FIFA got the bribes to do it and now they will move the goalposts for them. Disgrace

I've always been against moving the WC to winter on the basis of tradition - it's a summer tournament and has been for over 80 years. Also, if Qatar had bid on the basis of moving the WC to winter, there's no way they would have won the right to host it. That was a completely farcical decision anyway, as we all know..

Then there's the disruption to leagues to consider. It's obviously a nightmare to change all the European leagues for the season. However, somebody mentioned the other day that the South American leagues are disrupted for the WC every 4 years - anybody know how true this is? If so, I don't think we (as European FAs) should act as if it's our divine right to have an uninterrupted league calendar. World Cups would be equally **** without Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile etc...

I'm 100% against the move, but I don't think the league calendar argument is the strongest one we have (if the bit about S. American leagues is true)

If true its a valid point but i still say **** em!

WTF was it ever given to Qatar in the first place?

Someone trousered a big backhander, obviously, but you didn't have to be a genius to spot the problems. Holding a football tournament in a desert in the height of summer <doh>

Wouldn't be a world-cup if half of the world didn't play!!Blatter has created this mess...let him sort it out.European clubs should just carry on as normal with their league fixtures, and refuse to release their players to play in the competition.

50 degrees (110 f) !, 25 degrees is enough for me, that must be like being in a greenhouse with the door shut with the sun blazing down!. I remember 1976 my barometer showed 130 f in my greenhouse one day!.

Answered your own question there. People voting on it were bribed. Wouldn't be surprised to see the 2022 World Cup in the United States when they figure this whole mess out.

the contract was given out for a summer world cup, if they want to change it then it should be revoked, as a winter one breaks the original contract. i bet then america would get it plus more backhanders for Blatters lot

I work up north of Western Australia offshore, and during the summer months can hit mid 50's. 12 hour shifts outside on that heat is painful.

Australia should have had the 2022 World Cup, alot of us down here were absolutely devo when we found out we didn't win it. It would have been held during our winter, which makes alot more sense than an Arab summer (our winters get cold at night, but is a nice balmy 18degrees normally during the day). ****in corrupt FIFA ****s accepting money from oil wealthy arabs have ****ed that WC. And Russia wont be any better. Think the Euros were bad for racism rows... wait until Russia.

yup, just a farce.

just say no to baltter and co.

having lived in the UAE for a while it is a farce to play in that heat, coz if stadium tech breaks down (which it will) you're ****ed. plus the atmosphere will be garbage (whatever the time of year) coz you can't drink outside select hotel bars. it was such a bad decision the whole commite who voted for it should have been sacked immediately. they don't even play the game ffs.

at least Russia do, and as a participating team i get why it went there ....but similar massive problems with infra, racism and the rest point a few que's over that decision. that said, ukraine and Poland worked out well in the end for the Euros...

Slightly O/T, but I've been to a load of World Cups and Euros over the years, not 'cos I'm bothered about England, but as a way of travelling and seeing some international matches at reasonable prices.

I was going to apply for tickets for Brazil 2014 next month. But FIFA have done what they did for the South Africa World Cup. The cheapest category tickets really are cheap and available only to local people. So far so good, I'm all in favour of that, but ...

... the ****heads have made the next category up mega expensive to make up their money. No way am I spending £150 to take my bairn to a match. **** 'em.

Anyone seen how ****in expensive it is going to be to get to Brazil next year, nevermind the ticket prices!!?? I know I live in the middle of buttfuck nowhere, the most remote capital city on the planet, but $17,000 return with our national carrier is a ****in joke! And thats economy!!!

I really want to go, but not at those prices. And tickets are going to be worth thousands aswell, as I would want to watch Brazil and Italy. Sigh.

Imo, tickets for locals should be cheap, no matter which country, they should take prioritory.

UKIP would like to point out that Bongo Bongo land does not really exist , however this does not prevent
it being above Scotland and Wales in the FIFA rankings.
