True, but as we know all too well from the He Who Shall Not Be Named saga, it's about the first to agree personal terms...
where has this 'quagliarella to everton' link come from? i know about the alderweireld link but its the first i've heard the toffees may be in for fabio!
Here: http://www.goal.com/en/news/11/transfer-zone/2013/08/05/4166703/- As pointed out, it could be read with a healthy dose of scepticism given it is from his agent.
but that's what i'm saying - no mention of quagliarella! where has that link come from? everton, along with liverpool and spurs, have long been linked to alderweireld - that's not news
Everton have constantly been linked with Matri, its quite easy for some numpty wannabe ITK journo blah blah blah to get that mixed up. Matri and Quag have always been linked away in almost every single report!
Would like to add that if we sign Quag or another of similar quality, with that + Hooper/RvW it will be an extreme test of Hughtons man management skills
Wasn't Quagliarella linked to Valencia? Probably on the basis of Soldado moving to Spurs, so 2 + 2 = 5 etc. Can't recall him being linked to anyone except ourselves and maybe Sunderland a while back.
On the subject of how Hooper and RVW will link up together up top, I am feeling very positive about it. Both RVW and Hooper's strength is there movement, that'll strengthen the understanding between the two of them. They'll be able to create space for one another because they have that intelligence in their locker they'll know exactly the sort of run there strike partner has made. That's partly why I think we probably won't play an attacking midfielder much next season because it will be there movement which will be carving open the oppositions defence. I think that makes it more important for us to get a midfielder in who can feed them when they find space, but I do think Hughton may be looking at Fer for that. When Fer first signed for the club he stated how he is box to box midfielder, who likes being on the ball as well as winning it back. I honestly think he'll be our Yaya Toure if you like, he'll be looking to burst forward whenever he can and find the forwards with a pass. Or if you like that could be the wingers jobs, Snod or Pilks/Redmond cutting in and playing them through. Snod definitely has the vision to be able to do it, not sure about Pilks or Redmond. That's what I see happening anyway, but I haven't seen much of Fer admittedly.
Hooper played the first half at Braga and 25 minutes of the second half with RvW before going off. So it was 25 minutes people are judging on, not 45! I think their styles are complementary and could work well together, but there will be more variations used this year with a deeper, quality squad of players.
And this is why some of us worry, because when you only have A PLAN the opposition sus you out and you have no plan B,C D etc Or is that not quite what you meant? Bah!
Just think, in 3 months we could go from Holt, Becchio, Kamara, Jackson to RvW, Quagliarella, Hooper, Becchio, that's a serious upgrade! Interesting debate on whether they'll play together frequently, and I think any further striking additions may give us an indication. If we do sign Quagliarella, to me that suggests we'd have too much ability in that area of the pitch to always play 4-5-1 and leave two out every game, so certainly at home there's more chance of something closer to 4-4-2. How the strikers operate would be interesting to see though, as I feel strongly we need a central creative influence, and with two strikers I don't think we could afford the 'luxury' of Hoolahan too. Whether Fer, or even Howson or Butterfield, can offer that from a deeper position remains to be seen I guess.
