I know, but I'm not one for name-calling so I usually try a bit of logic to challenge an opinion. He has a point, Arsenal may have just thought the press had insider knowledge- but it still begs the question where from? If it goes to court then there's a chance that someone, presumably his agent, will be accused of leaking confidential information and I'd have thought Arsenal would want to keep well clear of it.
I know you are above name calling saint in my defence troll is more of a description Yeah Guardiola is already under suspicion over Thiago to bayern, he's probably hanging his botty out all over the place in order to make a buck, like most agents.
They don't, but they could easily say they were just testing the water, to see if the story had any credence. It'd be impossible to prove otherwise. In any case, it's all become somewhat ungainly this, you should just conclude a deal & be done here, as you don't surely want this dragging on to deadline day?
oh god forbid this drags on to deadline day!! let's definitely make sure that doesn't happen and let him go for £1.
"There's already £40m of them on the table like" which is nowhere near his value. So we should sell him for £15mil less than his value and sell him to our rivals for top 4 all for the sake of avoiding it from going to deadline day?
and we value Suarez at more than that, and won't sell him until his value is met. What is so hard to understand? We're not going to sell him on the cheap jsut in case this runs on to deadline day. He's got 3 years on his contract. He will play for us next season with a smile on his face if he doesn't move this summer, mark my words, looks like he's got some more work to do to impress Real before next summer.
Yeah we're screwed if it goes to deadline day, then he can just walk away and we'll get nothing... unless we have some legally enforceable agreement for him to remain an employee of Liverpool FC, but why would we have done that... ?
I wouldn't bank on that like. The signs aren't great, given that he gibbed off Gerrards testimonial dinner, doesn't sound like the actions of a player eager to build bridges to me. I didn't mean that you had to merely accept what's on the table btw, I meant that surely looking to negotiate to bring it to a conclusion is surely the best for all concerned?
Negotiate how? Arsenal haven't bid anyway near what we're willing to let him go for. And yes, he will play, just like he did in Gerrard's game and in the pre-seasons. And he has 6 games to cool off and get over himself at the beginning of the season. Can't really see him sulking and refusing to play when he comes back late September/early October.
He probably won't play with a smile but I think he';s the type of character who will still give 100% on the pitch. Also, re. Gerrards dinner - none of us know the reason as to why he didn't attend. Finally - we've made it clear that £55m plus is enough to allow Suarez to leave. As much as we want this saga to end, we want maximum value for our player.
He's doing to you what he did to Groningen & Ajax, it's only going to end with 1 conclusion - he leaves. If it drags on past the close of the window, then imo that'd be a massive mistake by Henry & Co.
We're resigned to losing to him. We accept that he wants to leave and we won't stand in his way. All we're doing is waiting for a suitable bid - simple as. And I don't blame Henry or Rodgers - they've done the right thing. We don't HAVE to sell Suarez. Even if he hands in a transfer request, he has 3 years on his contract - a contract which contains what appears to be a worthless clause. Even if he does stay, we'll have kept a world class player - he may not be happy but he'll still give it his all especially considering it's world cup year and to make sure other clubs still want him.
Serious question- why? I think he's the type that will still play to his best once the possibility of a move has gone- until the opportunity comes up again. To be honest I don't much care whether he stays or goes any more, we can live without him. It's just that I see so many people coming up with such firm conclusions I wonder what they base these opinions on?
Feel free to look at the reception he got from Ajax fans when he went back to say goodbye
Because keeping a player who's made it obvious he wants to move on, is never a clever move imo. They can be disruptive behind the scenes, create divisions in the camp & look to undermine the manager - even if they put in a shift on the pitch, I still think it's an unhealthy situation & unless they totally change their minds & sign a new deal etc, I can't think of one instance where a player kept against his wishes has ended well.
