But that would only work if Liverpool are looking to offload. If we are adamant that he stays unless our valuation is matched then they (Arsenal or Real) won't get him on the cheap. My point above was that Liverpool (for arguments sake) value Suarez at £50m. Real then buy Bale for £70m+. Do you think Ayre, Henry and the rest of FSG will ignore it? Or will they look and see a player (Bale) that had a lesser impact in the Premier League last season moving for more money than they are asking for for their player (Luis) and ask for more?
Suarez won't go for more than Spurs want for Bale so Real buying Luis first wouldn't effect the Bale deal IMO

My thinking here is that, at the moment the club may feel that they were not prepared to sell to Arsenal for less than £50+ because of the direct competitor element. However, they may be prepared to sell to Madrid for between £40-50.
Now if Bale goes to Madrid right now for more than say £70 then the figures that LFC would be looking for from Madrid would also rise accordingly.
