Business. The actual team running around on the green stuff kicking a ball, that's a football activity, selling stuff is a commercial activity.

Why do you keep asking silly questions?

Do you actually believe there are plans to change the badge on the shirts? If you do, why do you think that?

What's the point of all the other fluff you keep asking about? I'm assuming you don't support the commercial side of the organisation behind the mighty Tigers, so why the obsession with it?

I've had somebody say that signing a footballer is a business activity. Why does the training ground have "Hull City Tigers" when I would have thought that would be a football activity.

I think that the badge on the shirt will change to "Hull City Tigers" because I have been told that is the plan. This originally came from somebody inside the club.

I support the commercial organisation behind the club. I just don't see the point of either:

(a) trying to artificially split the club into "football" and "business" which is illogical if they are trying to create a brand - especially when they don't do a very good job of it! and

(b) changing our name for the last 109 years to something new.

I thought I understood what Nick Thompson was saying.Commercial is "Hull City Tigers" and footbal related is "Hull City." As well as the anomalies already posted I note at the bottom of the OWS it says "Hull City AFC business finder powered by....."( shouldn't this be Hull City Tigers? If you go to business finder it says " The Tigers Business Finder. Hull City Tigers business finder surely if what Thompson said is logical?

Business. When hes running around on the green stuff kicking a ball, that's a football activity, I expect to see him with a Hull City AFC badge in that situation.

Selling sponsorship and advertising is a commercial activity.

Selling tickets to a football match is a football activity.

Suggesting otherwise is beyond weak.

That was quite a mature and reasonable response. Until the 3rd line.

Why do you need to be rude to or insult anyone you disagree with? This isn't CI, people are allowed, and encouraged, to have have different opinions here. Your final little dig to every post you disagree with, loses you any credibility and respect.

Thank you Peter. I think that's the first time I've seen anyone actually post any sense on this subject from "the other side of the fence" as well as some justification.

I'm not sure I follow you, you said selling tickets to a football match was not a football activity, it is.

Therefore your point was inaccurate and weak.

I didn't see my comment as being in any way rude or insulting.

I quite often do rude and insulting, but not on this occasion.

I agree. It would be madness to change their name. In the coming season we may be in the top 20 of the most recognised football teams in England and Wales. Explain to me why changing our name from "Hull City" to "Hull City Tigers" wouldn't be madness?

Irrelevant, Manchester United are the most recognised football team in the world so no they wouldn't.

Exactly Peter!

This is the problem. There seems to be too many activities that could be classed as hybrid to make any logical case to classify activities as either football or business.

The club must read the forums. It will surely be someone's job to do this

Why they don't place threads like this on the desk of someone who can put this to bed once and for all

They don't want to put it to bed. They want to change the covers slowly.

It's not irrelevant at all. The name Manchester United is now one of the most recognised world brands due to 2 things:

1. Winning trophies
2. Big name players

Absolutely **** all to do with rebranding the name.

What people are also forgetting is that it costs fortunes to rebrand a name, especially the way they're going about it.

I would prefer if they would spend this money on players, wouldn't most of us???

The club do read the boards and know full well what's being discussed and the concerns that exist.

They could end it immediately, but have chosen not to do so.

Let's put it in footballing terms, the cost of rebranding the name was probably the difference in us not getting a bid accepted for Hooper. Who likes the name Hull City Tigers now???

I've sent the following email to Nick Thompson:

"Nick

I have been told that the club IS planning to rebrand despite what you stated in the recent radio interview. Many fans just do not believe you are telling them the truth. No amount of indignation will convince fans it is not happening. We can see it with our own eyes – starting with the recent change of company name. It would help if the club issued a statement that for the next five years they will be called Hull City AFC and the company name would be changed back to what it was previously. The fans would then feel a lot more confident about not being deceived – at least in the medium term. Many fans think that splitting the names between “football” activities and “business” activities has no logic. Many activities are a combination. The latest example of “branding by stealth” is the photo of Yannick Sagbo standing next to the “Hull City Tigers” badge. There are many other examples of the club not appearing to know what they are doing and constantly trying to fob off the fans with pathetic excuses like not knowing what names were used in the body of emails sent out and not know what sponsors were going to say when making announcements regarding the club. I would suggest that these announcements should (and would) be agreed between the club and sponsor before being released. We just do not accept that the examples are pure incompetence which is the club line when they are found out. You seem to be going down a path of knowingly trying to alienate the fans with ideas that go against any known marketing and branding theory as well as disregarding any sense of tradition and history. It makes more sense to have a consistent brand and that would be to use “Hull City AFC” which can be shortened to “Hull City” even though we know that a lot of national media will even shorten that to “Hull”. Changing “Hull City AFC” to “Hull City Tigers” will simply cause confusion because anybody without close connections to Hull or Hull City will not be sure whether or not it’s the Premier League football club from Hull. It could be one of any other sporting clubs in Hull. Why are you trying to change a well known brand that could be strengthened during the best opportunity in the club’s history and instead going all out to weaken it in some misguided venture?

If you are still unsure of how ridiculous the clubs attitude is please read the following links.

You now have an opportunity to show you understand football and football fans - please take it. If you feel that you “are only following orders” then you should consider how discredited that excuse is and remember what you said very recently and do the honourable thing and resign.

The links are a good read.
If you have any comments I would be very interested as I may be able to use them if I get a reply.
I accept some people don't care what we are called or what we wear.

I wish when writing these boring emails you would speak for yourself and not on behalf of the "majority" or the rather pompous use of "we"

i think "we" all get it , you got your knickers in a twist about the name change , why not organise a march with your fellow fist wavers to the KC ?

Ill provide sandwiches . . . ive a loaf of bread and some dairylea triangles .

I think Peter qualified it in line 3 when he stated "many fans".

Now, I can't speak on behalf of Peter, but I am almost certain he didn't include you in his posse, so you're off the hook.

hope we make some money out of it this time...

Where did I use the word "majority"? I suppose reality isn't very important to you.

What's pompous about using "we"? I am certain there is more than just me with similar thoughts.

I am glad that you use the word "I" and don't tar anybody else by association with your comments - except one "we" when you say you get it. If you get it I don't want it.

I think he is speaking for the majority.

Can I have a ham and cheese pannini?

I wonder if whittlingstick will do a "feeding of the multitude" like Jesus - but whittlingstick will call it "feeding of the majority".
