It is a step up. Just marginal. It's not like he'll win leagues and European trophies with you in the next couple of years (his prime years), so what's the point? He'll wait for Real to come knocking, even if its next summer. Plus, unless he is a true ****, he's already stated his major reason for leaving is the UK press, moving to london hardly gonna help is it.

Press excuse is a smoke screen. He wants CL football and we'll give it to him. Also he's got a ready made team around him to help us make a serious push for the League <ok>

This but I'd prefer us to **** him over and sell him to whoever (foreign club wise) is willing to cough up

I originally said that actually. I said £40m from a foreign club but £60m from Man City or Chelsea. Just to put this into perspective, I said £70m+ from Spurs or yourselves because you are direct rivals for fourth.

I wouldn't sell to Man Utd at all <laugh>
 
That was obviously just a convenient excuse initially, he probably though no english club would come in for him, and it would make his exit a bit easier. If he really was genuinely wanting out of the country he would have just told us he did not want to stay in england.

Maybe not the CL, but I think we can challenge for the league if we got him and one or two other players. Saying he will not win trophies with us smacks of desperation tbh.

You need a GK, CB and CM as well as Luis to challenge IMO <ok>
