@ESPNF1: Daniel Ricciardo's Red Bull test has been postponed by a day and Mark Webber will no longer take part - http://t.co/bLtRHvj1OA
I knew this test would be a joke - Red Bull have removed Webber "following a clarification of the permitted programmes from Pirelli and the FIA for this week’s Silverstone test", while Lotus have removed Raikkonen "after clarification emerged regarding the scope of tests that could be conducted by race drivers for Pirelli this week". What the **** are the FIA doing?
Just comparing the times from this to the times set during the F1 weekend (I'm looking at Practice 2 -green track following the wet first session, figured they would represent the closest comparison to this morning's conditions). - Calado's time was about a second off di Resta's fastest of that session, and a half second behind Sutil. - Frijns' time was 0.2s quicker than Gutierrez managed. - Rossi was faster than both the Caterham race drivers' best times in FP2 - Ellinas was 0.7s faster than Chilton. Not sure what to make of that, and it's difficult to make comparisons between the two sessions, but just figured I'd throw it out there.

FP2 took place in green, cold and cloudy conditions, and even towards the end of the session the track was still a bit damp in certain areas. Track temperatures will be very high today which probably explains the laptimes. Maybe comparing it to qualifying times might give us better idea? That was the first time that weekend that track temps were decent and the track had rubbered in a bit by then. Then we would get: Da Costa is 4.5 slower than Webber and Vettel Rigon is 3.7 slower than Massa and 4.4 slower than Alonso Prost is 4.4 slower than Grosjean and Raikkonen Calado is 3.0 slower than Sutil and 3.2 slower than Di Resta Magnussen is 3.0 slower than Perez and 3.4 slower than Button Ceccoto is 3.5 slower than Vergne and 4.5 slower than Ricciardo Frijns is 2.0 slower than Gutierrez and 2.5 slower than Hulkenburg Juncadella 2.5 slower than Bottas and 2.7 slower than Maldonado Rossi is 0.2 slower than van der Garde and 1.8 slower than Pic Elinas is 0.8 slower than Chilton and 2.5 slower than Bianchi Some are clearly not doing low fuel runs. Some probably are.

Bit embarrassing for Max Mclaren certainly got the mileage in to. Magnussen was on Mediums and di Resta Hards. Chilton's afternoon was severely disrupted by an ECU issue that meant he was only able to get out in the final hour, and only able to complete 25 laps in total - the majority of which he devoted to a late long-run.
Magnussen: TGWBTGWBSIF3ITYDT There's nothing really to be learned from those times, except that maybe Chilton is destined to finish last in every session he ever competes in. Shame there wasn't more coverage of how the youngsters look behind the wheel and what the teams are bringing in terms of updates.
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/108841?source=mostpopular Caterham uses F1 young driver test to trial 2014 parts with Rossi Alexander Rossi, Caterham, Silverstone F1 testing, July 2013Alexander Rossi hailed the impact of Caterham's developments after the team elected to trial systems intended for use on its 2014 car during Formula 1's Silverstone young driver test. Rossi said a new method of balancing the car through high and low speed corners proved effective, especially as he was conducting Caterham's first trial of the new system. The team elected to test 2014 ideas in a bid to gain practical experience ahead of the massive regulation changes that accompany the advent of the 1.6-litre V6 turbo engines next year. "We were running a new mechanical system of balancing understeer and oversteer between high speed and low speed corners," he told AUTOSPORT.
Thats the only story i've seen so far that speaks about testing upgrades, but they are for 2014 Caterham. Hope we can get some more info about the other cars though. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/108841?source=mostpopular
At the beginning of the year caterham said they are working on 2014 so I guess they are back on that plan

Red flag, Frijns seemingly put it in the gravel, nearly on lunch time. On another note how do you pronounce Frijns' last name?
