Stoke are considering a £6million move for *Tottenham left-back Danny Rose. The England Under-21 international spent last season on loan at *Sunderland, where he was one of the clubâs most *consistent performers in a disappointing campaign when they only just *avoided relegation. He also impressed new Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio, who may also bid for the defender. But Stoke manager Mark Hughes â who has replaced Tony Pulis at The Britannia â wants to bring in a left back and striker to reinforce the squad he has *inherited . And he is monitoring the situation of Rose, who has failed to establish himself at White Hart Lane. However, it appears that Hughes will not need to find a new goalkeeper. He has talked with Asmir Begovic and the Bosnian has told Hughes he is not looking to leave Stoke. Begovic was linked with a move to Liverpool, but *Simon Mignolet has now agreed a £9m move to *Anfield from Sunderland. An extraordinary offer around £15m may change the scenario, but the *indications are that Begovic will stay and that will *enable new signing Jack Butland from Birmingham to learn his trade at a *Premier League club.
Chris Young ‏@YoungSunEcho 8m For people asking, told that PDC did want to sign Rose, but don't think there's been any contact yet #SAFC Might just to make Levy anxious...
Think signing Rose would calm a lot of people down who have reservations about the number of new players coming in.
The imminant signing of Mendy and the pursuit of Oban would suggest we arnt going to make a move for Rose. After all if you recall after the Everton game last season PDC stated that he thought Rose was a great player but felt he still had alot to " learn defensively"
Would love it, must admit I really didn't think there was a chance at the end of the season. Thought he would stay at Spurs or go to a top 8 club after the season he has had but there does not seems to be too much interest which is very surprising for me. The lad has obvious quality.
Thought he was a free as well so will be wanting massive wages unfortunately can't see us paying silly wages yet.
