If I was on twitter, I'd be tempted to ask where he's planning to build the orphanage when he picks up his obscene amount of money from his transfer dealings. But I'm not, so I'll just hope that Cardiff have plenty of dealings with him instead.

No, no I haven't, but thanks for the window into your soul.

Hanging wallpaper is very much like making love to a beautiful woman. Clean all the relevant surfaces, spread her out on the table, cover her with paste, and stick her up. Then you clean your brush, light your pipe, stand back and admire your handiwork*

Is this still dragging on? I don't care how good this fella is, I'm beginning to hope the whole thing ends with Cortese telling this greedy nest of vipers (the player and his agents) to **** right off and choke to death on their own avarice.

Agents really need to be bought down a peg or 5 in the modern football. Far too much power and influence on young players

Hmm, I wouldn't get yourself so twisted up about it. Say, for example, Cortese reveals that he has been purchased. Then where are you..? ;)

All he talks about in that article is money. It stinks and agents are driving it into players heads that they should be earning more than what they are worth so that their cut is bigger. Makes my blood boil!

The thing is i would say more often than not we are the highest bidders when it comes to transfers (some would say we pay over ther top) yet when it comes to contracts and agents NC seems to be tight as arseholes. Why doesn't he negotiate harder with the clubs to possibly save millions rather than screwing down the agents to save thousands albeit hundreds of thousands.

At least Nain..Ng..Nan (the other one) said the money was good, but his career was most important.

Then I'll eat my words. But until then, **** him and his agent, we don't need them.

Think he goes in high (probably only by the odd million) so the club agrees and we can get at the player. Don't think he minds paying for something, but think he objects to paying for nothing. The agent should be paid by the player. I know the money will still indirectly come from the buying club, but the player may be more concerned about how much he is paying then.

I would guess we're prepared to spend about the same amount in total on the transfer as other clubs. Say £12m. Cortese obviously feels that if we offer the selling club all that £12m we have an advantage over other clubs who seem more likely to offer the selling club £10m and save the other £2m for payments to agents, signing on fees etc

I can't see him going to Cardiff so we are probably still in the race. Agree with PTF take anything any agent says with a very large pinch of salt.

There's no 'negotiate harder' on most of these transfers, for one. When there are multiple teams in for a player, the transfer fee will reflect what others in the market are offering or are likely to offer.

Two, keeping wages reasonable is the key to keeping a team solvent. Not only do you save money over the course of the deal, and you save from the knock-on effects when signing other players down the road, but your players are easier to move; you can get out from under the contracts of the bad ones, and the good ones have a much higher value on the market because more teams are possible suitors.

Three, I suspect that the agent fees are something of a matter of principle for Cortese. Asking for 1m+ is comical, and Cortese knows that handing over the cash would mean hanging a sign around his neck that says "easy mark" in future negotiations. It's not a coincidence that every agent with a late 20s/early 30s player of some past pedigree was banging on QPR's door: they were handing out money to players and agents like it was Halloween candy.

Yeah, one gets the sense that they might not be seeing nearly the level of firm interest that they expected, and the agents want to expedite the process. The big clubs have him in their sights, but they also have a lot of other players in their sights...they probably want to create a sense that Wanyama could sign somewhere at any time, and hope to get some bids in. If that doesn't happen as preseason approaches, they might start thinking that six figures is almost as pretty as seven.

The hold up with Ramirez was connected to who owned him and who would pay the South American club. The agent in his case expedited the situation...accepting reduced payment to get the deal through. Many agents do try their best for their clients as everyone benefits if they get a good deal and a decent move. Unfortunately young footballers (especially in South America and Africa) can get involved with shysters....though even the worst usually get their clients a job. If you come from a poor country and an agent gets you a job at a club like Celtic, you will be grateful.

I think this is dead. The agent said they informed SFC the wages were unacceptable a few weeks ago. They've apparently not had an improved offer and are looking elsewhere. My guess is that is what Nicola is doing as well.

That makes me prefer him far more than Wanyama and his hangers-on. I don't actually mind being turned down due to perceived size of club. At least that's honest. For a couple of quid for my mates though? Nah. That smells. I'll happily applaud Nainggollan if he ends up at a top team. I'll boo Wanyama if he trots off to Cardiff for the cash.
