Would we want him and is he worth the money? Personally I'd want him for the extra bit of vigor and presence he brings but steep at the buy out price IMO.

Everton chairman Bill Kenwright is adamant there is no pressure to sell players this summer but accepts he may not be able to keep hold of midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

The Belgium international has a £24million buy-out clause and has long been linked with a move away with Chelsea and Manchester United - the latter now managed by former Toffees boss David Moyes - two of the clubs reportedly interested.

"He (Roberto Martinez) talked about a couple of new signings and he talked about the squad and asked 'Do they need to go?'," said Kenwright.

"I said 'No, they absolutely do not have to go' (although) there is one (Fellaini) that has a get-out which everyone knows."

I can't see Fellaini in an Arsenal shirt and I don't think he's worth £24m.

But that sort of figure is quite likely to be met by either Chelsea or Utd.

I was told a while back that he had a pre contract agreement with PSG, Kenwright will be happier taking the crackers and seeing his prized asset move abroad I reckon...

(First post, been lurking for like a year)

how about mark schwarzer? still a good keeper, available on a free (i think) and able to provide competition whilst still giving szcesney (and fabianski) plenty of opportunities?

Not sure of the point of signing Schwarzer really. I know it's not a universally held view, but I think both Szczesny and Fabianski give each other enough competition for the No1 jersey. They are both young and improving, Fabianski did really well when he came in last season. For me Szczesny is going to be one of the best in a few years.

Times reporting we could get Fellaini... make of that what you will.

Can't see it happening to be honest, but I would be thrilled if we did. As long as it's not for £24m, I don't think he's worth more than around £18m

Seems like a big bid. Not sure how much. People are talking about it though.

Welcome, Bob. <ok>

Seems like it could happen. Worth it though? That's the big question here.

He's better than any other midfielder we have (Except Santi).

How can you people not want him? I don't understand you at all. You want a quality signing, we're linked to a quality player, and you complain?

And i thought i was the pessimist?
Do we need him? Ramsey and Arteta havr a fantastic partnership and we have options for CAM

I'm worried about Arteta. He seems to get slower and slower. He is also getting to the age where injuries start creeping in. I think we can get another midfielder even if you like Ramsey in there.

Edit: seems to be something in this. Skybet has the price down to even money that he will join Arsenal before Sept 1st. http://www.skybet.com/football/tran...2082?aff_id=9713&dcmp=ss_betlink_FELLAINItwit

He's an upgrade on almost everyone Arsenal have for the midfield role. He adds height, physicality, ball retention, and can play anywhere in the middle.

He ran the show singlehandedly at Goodison this season & he's young enough to be around for years.

Want.

I've come round to wanting Fellaini in recent weeks too. He plays like someone much older than 25, and his physicality is exactly what we need to start bossing other teams around. Everyone has been saying we need an extra midfielder, so why not Fellaini? He can play as AM and striker too, so could fill in many positions if needed, and quite frankly I'd much rather have him there than the alternatives currently making our bench. I see him as a starter for a CM spot though.
