we should get McGregor for 1 season then pick up Schmeichel on a free at the end of the season, that should piss off the LESSta fans even more!
.. not necessarily Patsy ... depends on a couple of dynamics that you conveniently overlook:- 1) whether we get promoted (we appear to be joint second favourites with the bookies) and 2) whether you get relegated (you appear to be second favourites with the bookies). Now I'm not judging either (and indeed I hope you stay up) but, should he stay with us, and either of the above prove correct; then I'd be pretty confident that he wouldn't be joining you and, as such, we'd, in fact, be far less pissed off.
How did you fare with the bookies last season, Fossie? In all honesty, if I was Steve Bruce I would walk away from any attempt to sign Schmeichel. Your valuation of him is too high compared with the competition. McGregor is far better value.
Flippancy aside for the moment - one of the best things Martin O'Neil did for us when we frst went up with him was to bring in Kasey Keller - who proved to be superb. His experience was vital to our overall defensive organisation and he was a pretty damn fine shot stopper too.
Personally fine - apart from the odd 'first goalscorer' bet, I've never bet on us to win either a game or a particular competition - and doubt I ever will. Value is interesting - you have to factor in 'current' and 'potential' in any deal and also be realistic about your own teams prospects as a result. I would value him closer to £4 million than £2 million at this point in time - largely because I think we would need towards the upper figure to replace him and anything that could have a dterimental impact on a promotion campaign (which is our stated objective) needs to be factored in. I saw Jack Butland at our place this season - on the evidence of that game (admittedly could just have been an off day) he did not look as good as Kasper at thispoint in time (his 'flapping' at high balls was markedly worse than anything I've personally seen from Kasper) - yet he has gone to Stoke on a deal worth over £3 million. I don't get to het up about these things myself - largely because my view (and anyone else's for that matter) is irrelevant - whatever will be will be.
In the games I witnessed against Brum (home and away), I was impressed with Butland especially at his age. As I say I don't think we will take this much further, not, as that moron Proud_Fox states, because we cannot afford more (why does he always resort to size? Does he have some other underlying issues?), but because we can simply achieve what we require for better value elsewhere. If Leicester have assessed the situation and feel that letting him go on a free, or taking a gamble on next season being a promotion season (something that I think will be significantly harder than this season) then all's good. Frankly at the end of the day HCFC fans have no MASSIVE desire to have him ahead of the likes of Alan McGregor or Vito Mannone who would cost about the same figure. Have to say though, you aside, that a good number of your fans seem to be perpetually wrapped up in this "We are a BIG Club, We have rich owners, We can afford anything" attitude that simply is a house of straw. I think your Club is at a crossroads right now. With FFP you will have one more "Hail Mary" at promotion next season. If you chose not to start to prepare the ground for FFP now and continue to lose money hand over fist, it will be a huge gamble that could spell disaster if you don't go up next season.
Well if Lesta have turned that bid down then we should move on and get Kaspar in for nowt next summer when his contract runs out. Mark Schwarzer is a free agent in a months time and he can be signed up now. Only wages. I would still try and get Shay Given as well. In fact wages apart we can get both Given and Schwarzer for £1m.
With Fulham getting their new keeper http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22789339 it could put Stockdale back in the loop.
We should get Schwarzer. The man is still class and he's available on a free. It's a no brainer, surely?
According to the Fulham board most posters are sad to see Schwartzer leave, but say that he has been prone to costly mistakes last season and his kicking put them under pressure. Still, they do say that at times last season he was his brilliant best so I agree that it would be great if we could get him. His experience could be invaluable to developing Oxley too.

SB might thing signing him is again a short term fix, as he probably only has a season left in him at this level. I am sure he will opt for a younger keeper, so he doesn't have to face the issue again next season.
We'll after wait while after the World Cup qualifiers then. See below. Off Sky Former Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer will decide on his future after Australia's World Cup qualifiers this month following his departure from the Premier League club after five years. He said: "'My full focus has been on the Socceroos. I've got another nine or 10 days in camp and hopefully we qualify for Brazil and then after that's all over with, I'll think about what I'll do with my club (future)."
