Just seen this... http://www1.skysports.com/football/...stay-and-that-could-lead-to-Jack-Butland-loan If Begovic stays, perhaps a bid for Butland on loan for the season wouldn't be too bad a shout? Was a shining light in a **** Birmingham team and Stoke might want him to get PL experience, plus it would certainly help his England chances.
Butland was a shining light that could and should have kept out 4 of our goals in the 5 goal drubbing.
There are about 4 weeks until the transfer window opens, so we're going to have 4 more weeks minimum of what Kaspar is worth and different views on what FFP means to Leicester (nothing according to some of their fans), but if Kaspar comes back from his holidays and hands in a transfer request and Hull are the only club bidding for him (Uncle Mark has Butland and Begovic) then... (and if anyone posts the "Let him rot in the Leicester reserves" then every single agent will tell their clients not to sign for Leicester, so...)
I think we've had enough loan goal keepers TBH. We need a permanent solution rather than the constant churn of keepers we've had recently.
You have reported debts for last season of £30m on top of the overall debt. It was also reported that you have to reduce your wage bill which should be a given now. Whatever any of us think the bottom line is what Kaspar has told the club. Something is better than nothing. You can replace him with cheaper options actually. I would prefer us to go after Shay Given and / or Mark Schwarzer who are proven PL goalies. Twt.
so you think that having a player of his ability sat on the bench, doing nothing for a year, getting paid, to then leave on a free transfer is a good idea
.. not at all ... if he's told he's got to see his contract out because no bids have reached the club's valuation (whatever that may be) then I EXPECT him to honour his contract by playing to the best of his ability in every game ... however if he's not prepared to do that I'd love our owners to have the balls to do what Man City did with Tevez, Spurs did with Modric and West Brom did with Odemwingie ... and that is all.
As soon as they turn down £2.5m we should walk away. MacGregor is better value at that point. They can keep him for their triumphant march to the Premiership next season (ARF!)
Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...5m-offer-Kasper-Schmeichel.html#ixzz2VHJ3xg7Z "Schmeichel himself is settled in the west Midlands and would need to uproot his family in search of his dream of following in his father's footsteps and playing regularly once more in the Premier League after a breakthrough earlier in his career with Manchester City." now silly me, I thought Leicester was in trhe East Midlands. At least it was when I lived there
Has the online version been cut from a longer article in the printed version? A cynical person could say that the article is suggesting that if he stays where he is then he's not pursuing that dream.
In all honesty we need 2 permanent solutions ( with Jak as a third), though finding a decent enough no2 depends on both the right talent and temprament - probably harder to find than a good no 1. Stevie Harper has a fantastic rep in Newcastle for both his longevity of service and doing the business when called upon. Bit like an extreme version of Matt Duke. They don't grow on trees....
We should be going for Schwarzer on a free, he's a far better option, even if his wages are a bit higher and he's not a long term appointment.
