It was listening to Yellow River that I fell in love with the 12 string guitar! That closing riff still sends shivers down my spine! <ok>
 
I think it's been stated that the majority of singing will come from younger fans (20-40) so you should probably choose a song that appeals to this age group. As many of you have said, some of the songs listed you listened to loads when you were younger so if we're serious about adopting a song, it needs to be in tune with the younger fans as well as being well known which is why it might need to be something like Coldplay's Yellow.
