Hi, First time poster on this forum. Saw a link on twitter to this thread so thought I'd have a gander. Reading the comments on twitter, on the Watford Observer, on here etc there is massive desire for an increased atmosphere and there are two things that we need to get the ball rolling: 1.We simply MUST find an anthem for our club. 2. We need to keep the noisy fans together, both at home and for away games which have large allocations. With regards to an anthem it must be family friendly, and I agree with the poster about no anti-Luton lyrics. However, no matter how much we try, we will never agree on an anthem to sing, let alone get it off the ground, through the messageboards/forums, but I have an idea on how to choose an anthem and get it sung: 1. The Club hold a competition and invite anyone and everyone to write their own anthems and send them in. 2. The club (or other chosen 'panel') choose the top 10. 3. The Club hold an anthem day where they open one up 1 area of the ground during summer, invite all fans down, open up a bar, sell some half price beer and then get all attending fans to record all 10 songs. 4. Recordings are then put on all Watford based media and everyone votes for their favourite 5. Chosen anthem is then broadcast through all types of media until it catches on You can charge an entrance fee with all proceeds going to The Peace Hospice, hold a raffle. Hold a prize draw for all those who send in an anthem with the winner getting free ST for 2014/15 etc etc etc I have emailed the club with my ideas on this. Appreciate any comments as to whether anyone else thinks its a good idea or not! Or whether I am just totally deluded!
First of all welcome to the Forum Stoney, always good to see new people. I think you put forward some good ideas and with the club making a lot in recent weeks about fan support I hope they give serious thought to your suggestions.
Let's hope it's not met with stoney silence! Seriously, you have some good ideas which may well prove fruitful!
Welcome Stoney...and may i say, that's bloody brilliant! I think you're completely right, it won't be chosen on forums etc...it needs to come from the club..this is a completely brilliant idea!
Thanks. I e-mailed the club yesterday with the idea, so will wait and see if I get a response. If I do then I'll re-post on here and also try and get some support on twitter, and on the Watford Observer (which is where I usually post all things Watford!) By the way, whats the deal with the points system on here and stuff??!
make 50 posts and then go on the rep thread and click on the sheriffs star under your name to rep people if they rep you back your points will raise quickly as well as your rep power
Thanks, although I have no idea way repping is or what the points count towards. No response from the club yet, probably busy sorting out season tickets!!
you have made 3 posts and got over 1 mill points if you want to start getting rep you need to make more posts say anything you like, maybe that you dont like the colour yellow or that loans should be limited to 3 a team
I will tell myself off But I am also trying to help in explaining that he needs to make posts I gain lots of points by posting rubbish
But what do you mean 'getting rep' ? sorry to be thick but I am 100% new to this forum! and why have I got 1 million points for my 3 posts? how do you collate points?.... and then once you've got them, what do/can you do with them? and once you've answered those questions, can you just answer one last one....... 'Who are We and Why are We here?'
you got 1 mill points because Hornette_TID gave you rep the higher someones rep power, the more points they can give you I have no idea why I am here, wrong team I think
i wouldn't worry too much..they're worthless. Just a bit of added competitive fun....that occasionally goes too far ...rep people if you feel their post is worth repping..or get competitive with it..the choice is yours ...the main thing on this forum is to have fun!
In the dim distant past when I used to try and get as close as possible to the signing we always used to make a good job of signing " You are my Watford ... " to the the tune of " You are my sunshine ... ". That and " Knees up Mother Brown" of course !!
