Thing is though, this mustn't be a superficial popularity poll - which is why I'm asking for confidential PMs to Nines and Matt only.

On the face of it, there's no doubt I get more than my fair share of respect from our people, for which I'm very grateful. However, reading between the lines and watching people come and go on here, I know my decisions (including those both banning Swords AND accommodating him over time) have seriously given a good few cause for concern in my judgement to put it mildly.

Whilst Swords has apologised for 'playing to the gallery' in his OP, he didn't go so far as to withdraw his allegations against me completely. There's no doubt in my mind that in addition to those who've expressed support for Swords in this thread, there are also others who feel the same way but are less inclined to openly criticise me for one reason or another.

At this stage of the game, it's all very well me condemning Swords for his excesses, but unless I accept full responsibility for my part in allowing him to get away with it for so long, and give people the chance to review confidence in their mods, it's pretty apparent to all that I'm every bit the power crazed hypocrite his OP accuses me of being.

Fact is I don't know what people really think and whether my detractors will number 15 or more or less. What I'm saying is you don't need a majority to make me think again. My guard's down, have a free pop - with the promise of no recriminations.

Thanks again for your (frankly unexpected) support. We'll see how it goes mate.

havn't trawled through this but not being able to refer to Danny ****tu without having 4 astericks in his surname did make me think twice about the PC **** enforced by moderators on football forums....

I'll not be sending any PMs to Matt or nines, but I'd like to openly state my complete confidence and trust in, and absolute respect for Brix on this and every matter ever raised. I have no personal issue with swords, but I don't like to see a good man on the block. To be honest, and without meaning to be dramatic, if 15 members voted Brix out, I'd be off too, in sympathy and support. I would, however, put my house on the 15 not coming forward.

That is factual and I don't need to prove anything that is 100% true so you you can take this statement as you wish. I have had a few chats with Swords and he is fine in my book.

You talk of "ganging up by a number of posters". Who are they, these shadowy dark forces? Bring them into the light. When you do this we can then ask them why have complained, "in a gang" or out of one. Tell me so I can make my own informed decision, otherwise you risk looking like a paranoid, deluded idiot on the internet. "Even PM's were circulated"? Wow it must have been serious then. Last time I checked PM meant Private Message. What do you know about other peoples' Private Messages the rest of us don't? You obviously know something. Let me guess. Cerny lost his head a year ago. I made a point of this at the time, and then had you and SKU (go figure) opining to all and sundry that he was "hounded off the site" by "a group of posters". <laugh> Glad you finally saw what I did then. Keep up. <ok>

Trolls why bother with them?

Some people -- particularly those who have been online for years -- are not upset by trolls and consider them an inevitable hazard of using the net. As the saying goes, "You can't have a picnic without ants."

It would be nice if everybody was so easy-going, but the sad fact is that trolls do discourage people. Established posters may leave a message board because of the arguments that trolls ignite, and lurkers (people who read but do not post) may decide that they do not want to expose themselves to abuse and thus never get involved.

Another problem is that the negative emotions stirred up by trolls leak over into other discussions. Normally affable people can become bitter after reading an angry interchange between a troll and his victims, and this can poison previously friendly interactions between long-time users.

Finally, trolls create a paranoid environment, such that a casual criticism by a new arrival can elicit a ferocious and inappropriate backlash.

The Internet is a wonderful resource which is breaking down barriers and stripping away prejudice. Trolls threaten our continued enjoyment of this beautiful forum for ideas.

I just treat this site like an E-pub, pop in for a E-jar or three, have an E-chat on various subjects and then do whatever I'm doing. As in a real pub, there will be characters you get on with and one or two you'd avoid if possible. I'll exchange views with many, some of whom I don't agree with, but that's what a forum is about - different opinions.

Whether I agree or disagree I try to respect other people's views and only if severely provoked will I tell another poster what I think of them, it's only happened on here twice in the two plus years I've been on here, so overall I think this site isn't that bad. We all know who the WUMS are and as long as you realise that's what they are you can take their posts with a pinch of salt.

Just look on Brix as being the Landlord of 'The Not606 Arms' and Nines and Matt as his barmen, all of whom are here to keep order in their domain...

More seriously (than my last post Brix)...you are top mod, and you can ask for any poll you want, but you will not get anywhere near 15 dissenters from us.
You are a great mod...with a light touch, I completely understand "why you let Swords get away with it".

But you ban too early and you are Hitler in disguise, you ban too late you are a soft touch that anyone can have a pot at...it is a fine fine line and you straddle it perfectly.
Brix don't take this so to heart....

I like to read and soak but sorry haven't learnt anything really here, you have your opinion and i don't block that. I base my opinion on historical facts on here and that's the way i come to conclusions. I still believe I am right and nothing anyone says will make me like or dislike any poster. Swords is a character and has an unique style on here that many find difficult to understand or talk to ... I don't ... in fact I don't any problems with anyone really because its just an internet forum and a source of entertainment as most social media is. I would point to any evidence re Swords this way: Posters find time to comment for example to attack with posts openly like get him off or ban him ... search through there are plenty of examples. He is not popular? .. think again he is ... its just that the people who understand this cant be bothered with the petty use of using some rules to get the mods to act. This has compounded over time to a point whereupon politics has won over plain common sense IMO.

Swords has to also learn that if he gives it he takes it back and when you get a load of open posts calling for bans etc anyone would get fired up. This entire thread is completely daft ... Swords could of complained privately yet wrongly chose open forum because i expect he feels an injustice ... recently he was subjected to comments about legal action and abuse which was very funny. Brixton also has found it necessary to use open forum where this could have been settled in PM's maybe? Brixton of course is an excellent member/mod/poster of all of this ... everyone knows that ... it's a given. To then come out and make a him or me statement is frankly very strange IMO and it's poured petrol on a crazy fire. I fully understand the frustration that Brixton must face when trying to deal with this and this last attack by Swords is simply in my mind old wounds and run ins that were never dealt with correctly in the past by all parties!

Swords may go... he may have gone and I expect that many posters may understand this and the reasons why?

However I bet he comes back and i fully expect Cerny to return to contribute ... why because they are part of the whole on here and what this comic a good read.

We are all bound to get pissed off after this season and I sincerely believe that's where a lot of this anxst is coming from.

Telford I have endless hectares of self - regarding bullshit ... in fact i am the Burj Khalifa of self-regarding Bullshit and funny thing is I fully understand that but some of them are super quality ... thank you for reading them
