The truth of the matter is that whatever sock puppet de jour our in-house troll may be wielding, it eventually becomes tiresome in their ongoing quest for internet attention. Sad isn't it? Ok telford, I didn't realise he had said, & I had agreed with that. - old age mate.
I still believe him to be a good poster and that we are all entitled to our opinions.
I make no excuses or appologies for him and he's made a rod for his own back, so its up to him to sort it out. I thought his post was an acceptance of wrong doing and an apology ..of sorts. well that's how I read it anyway. I may well be wrong.
I do believe he gets unfair criticism (a lot of which is his own doing) but I also believe that some will not be happy until he is gone. that's their choice.
Personally some of his post lighten the mood and made some very boring days bearable. Totally convinced he knows what he's doing & I think that people should either use ignore, not bite or treat his threads with a pinch of salts.
The (one and) only thing I agree with DT about is the calling for people to be banned thing & the apologising for mistakes thing..as I said earlier.
I know its been a **** 2 seasons but I think some on here are taking this too seriously, In mu humble opinion. Not aimed at you Telford btw.

Mate, that works right up to the point where he starts threads with other user's names in. Which he has done to me, and to a fair number of others. Putting someone on ignore just hides the content of the post, not the thread title or the fact that he's posting.
Nobody reads Swords posts 'just to find offence' - rather they read threads, see his stuff, and they react according to what he writes.
Please don't imply that the offence is all the reader's fault and not the poster - if that's what you meant. If not, then I apologise. However, Swords (and Cerny, and all the others over the years both here and on BBC 606) know what they are doing and how to get the most reaction. That's not to say that some reactions (including mine in the past) could not have been handled a lot better, but the instigators are always the original posters.
It's great to see our wide spectrum of opinions about what this forum is to people who use it.
Anyone IMO who can't laugh at life each day on here and use this place as entertainment is missing out.

That just about reflects where I am all this. No doubt not everything, but far too much on here gets taken way too seriously.. At the end of the day it's just opinions on a forum - the writer may not mean them even half an hour after they are written , let them be. I certainly don't want Swords banned, put him on "IGNORE" if his posts are too much for you- as Kiwi says.

If I were, I'd visit your "joke" thread and start complaining. I've seen what's in there so I don't. It's self-contained and I stay away.

You are right mate. I thought the Op was not only wrong, but a bit disrepectfull to the Mods to be honest.
The mods are more than capable of looking after themselves; as Brix did 7 I don't really see why so many complained so much.
Brix crucified him and I thought he'd apologised.
There was only ever going to be one winner in this and as I posted, it was never going to be Swords IMHO.
No, however boring the day, I wouldn't want to read this again, but, I do enjoy the majority of his posts, whether serious or not.

FYI. Not given to loose words or broken promises and having heard Swords apology and confirmation that he was 'playing to the gallery' (unfortunately at MY expense), I will now be putting this case to my co-mods for their decision on Swords future as a character on here.
In view of their being new to the mod role, I shall ask NUTS to join them as an experienced (former) mod to make a more comfortable and better informed panel of three. As I say, (beyond putting my case to them) I won't interfere in their deliberations or judgement and will respect and abide by their decision come what may.
The context of my case is this. Whilst Swords is a serial offender against our rules who's been banned a few times now, the truth is he's also had untold 'squeezes' ('words of advice' and warnings with no action taken) over the past couple of years - and even more 'blind eyes' turned to his deliberately skulduggerous antics. All this in the hope we could retain someone who's not only been part and parcel from the outset, but more importantly one who, on a good day, ranks among the very best contributors I've seen on this site.
Pains me now to have to acknowledge that our exhaustive and exhausting efforts to this end (including rules, guidelines, polls, reviews, fine tuning etc.) have all been in vain. For all our (nauseating) transparency, Swords either learned nothing about the expressed will of the majority on our board, or simply had/has no respect for it.
With the benefit of hindsight it would have probably been easier all round if I'd heeded the advice / pleas from users (some his targets, others observers) to get him gone. (I hasten to add this was no 'complainants clique' as speculation would have it, but rather open posters for the most part - and hardly suggests, as has been alleged, our deference as mods in succumbing to such pressure, much less confirming it.)
Fact is, I thought I knew better - and in this am disappointed to admit that despite his own best interests, Swords effectively managed to prove me wrong and hang himself in the process. Weird world. However, for my arrogance, I must shoulder some of the blame. In so doing I firstly repeat the apology made earlier on this thread, to those who suffered Swords' provocations and audacity for longer than they or I would've wished. Clearly another case of the best laid schemes of mice and men inevitably turning to ****!
However, as with Swords, I'm conscious of the likelihood my apology may not be enough to placate some of Swords apologists and/or detractors; people who quietly believe my actions / inactions to have caused unnecessary agg. to the extent it has damaged this board of ours.
Whilst I now have to leave it to my peers to decide Swords' fate on here, my final word on the matter is to leave you with what Swords was in effect calling for in his OP: the opportunity to bring this 'power lusting Sultan' to book.
If over the next couple of weeks, QPR999 AND QPR Matt inform me that they have received just 15 or more PMs quoting the words 'Brixton out' or something similar, my term as mod will be brought to an immediate close. There is no need to explain your decision in that PM. Furthermore, I guarantee my co-mods will keep the identities of those opting for this course of action strictly confidential; and in any and every case there will be no regrets / umbrage from me.
We've worked hard structuring this board to make it what it is and the last thing I want is for anyone, especially me, to compromise that effort.

Swords was ganged upon at one point by a number of posters on here and even PM's were circulated to make the mods act in the past ... That is factual and I don't need to prove anything that is 100% true so you you can take this statement as you wish. I have had a few chats with Swords and he is fine in my book.
Let me make it simple for you or anyone on here ... If any poster goes out of their way to complain or moan about another poster without using the ignore button then face to face IMO I would call them a fool .
