Just a few short weeks ago, the Mags thought they were brilliant when they splattered them all over this board when they went above us in the league.
However, thet don't seem to like them now that the boots on the other foot!

I had a lot of respect for a lot of them but TBH I'm shocked at the very bad sportsmanship and bitterness shown by a lot of them.

I can say "fair play" if it's a fair wum. For example, if we got griefed for drawing after being three goals up, I'd say you're right, fair play, we were ****e.

However, the wumming just consists of people claiming that Sunderland is the bigger team and that Sunderland are the best team in the North East after they beat an already-relegated West Ham to overtake a newly promoted team by a single point. No one deserves a shred of respect or sportsmanship for sad stuff like that. Especially when Sunderland were given 7 points by other teams *cough*.

I think ONE mackem made a thread, said well done for this season and said he looked forward to more derby's. One. The rest of them just blabbed **** which will probably end up biting them right in the arse next season. They're still doing it today. Either that, or making threads about themselves doing it (i.e. this thread), which I don't quite understand.

Show respect, and respect is returned.

Unfortunately when we were in the middle of our slump all we got off you boys was... How's the bottom half of the table? We're a better side... the table will show it at the end of the season... and so on and so forth.

And those effing annoying dancing men...

The lads who came across and dished out the grief have brought it upon themselves mate.

Respect? No mag has really said finishing higher than you lot means we were better over the season. All we get is that you've just been promoted, on the one hand, and only 2 or 3 of our players would make it into your team, on the other. If that's not a contradiction in terms I don't know what is. Either you're not as good as us (not much in it, admittedly) or your team is so good it should have finished higher than ours.

I want to say well done to you guys but honestly, some of the mackems and their crap just make me feel like I'd really rather not.

I don't actually mind the dancing men to be honest. They're pretty harmless.

Yeah well, I'm only speaking for myself of course. However, when a mackem tries to get back at the mag trolls by posting **** on our board, it obviously annoys everybody who visits there - even those who prefer not to stoop that low.

and vice versa as well, we had to put up with it on every thread, even those that are not wums on your board.

just learn to ignore it, or go away for a day or 2, pointless getting upset over it.

An awful lot of mackems seem to enjoy saying it.

Anyway, it's down to pure pot luck this season. One point ahead, we have -1GD, you guys have -11 and so on. On different days there would have been different results for both teams and the positions would have been different. For example, you guys have gained 7 points ONLY from either own goals or penalties this season. So for those 7 points, you can credit other teams for ****ing their own match up. We've also had good luck and bad luck in similar situations.

I know if I was a mackem and I thought Sunderland would go above, I'd wait until there's a clear undisputed difference in the table. A big gap. No excuses. No luck. Just purely a better team. That has yet to happen though and I don't think that any sensible mackem can say it has. On our return, we were pipped to the post by the last 45 mins of the entire season. Next season should be a lot better in-terms of competing, and I'm looking forward to it.

Mate, you know i respect you as a poster, but what a load of bollocks.

If Manchester United had won the league by a point they'd still be champions.

Whether we beat you, over the season, matters not whether it was the last 45 mins, the last nano second whatever.

We did beat you over the season, the gap is immaterial.

As for '7 gifted points', if you are that desperate for straw i'll give you some.

What about 13 injuries at once, 1 win in 11?

You can package a turd anyway you want, when you open the wrapping it's still a turd.

We won the war, let's not dwell on it, and look forward to next season.

Rolling out all these 'this, that, but' bollocks is just a wee bit ****ing pathetic.

I could be wrong but isn't the Premiership a competition played over 9 months whereby everyone plays everyone else to establish who is best?

    Now, who finished above whom.

So is going on and on and on saying 'the best team in the north east' after beating us by ONE point. That's a load of bollocks.

If Man Utd won the league by a point, they'd be champions, but would they be the best team in the EPL? Depends on the results. If they only won due to, say, an own goal by an opposing team, it would be a pretty hollow victory, and there's every possibility that the second place team played better and deserved it more. That's football though.

I don't doubt that you guys finished above us. That's obvious and I'll admit it. Fair play. However, all this **** being spouted is a bit ridiculous, although I do expect it I guess.

And we've had just as many injuries, so that's a load of poop as well.

As for the gifted 7 points thing, I WISH Newcastle had the same luck, but we didn't. Nowhere near. In fact, in similar situations I think we gained 2 points. Just be grateful that those teams cocked up when they did, otherwise you guys would have been staring down the barrel of relegation on Sunday.

Anyway, no point trying to convince anyone cos none of us will budge. Just my view.

but surely an own goal usually comes from good attacking play, = good cross, = defensive blunder. same as pens.

your reasoning behind that is bollocks, and on the other hand, i thin we have lost 23 points this season from winning positions, if we hadnt have done that we would be on 70 points, but we did so didnt get 4th.

I really dont understand your 7 point argument at all.

I don't think that anyone has had the injury problems that Sunderland have had. We had to play quite a few games without a single recognised striker!
Despite this, we still somehow managed to finish tenth.
However, the best thing was that we finished above the Mags, otherwise this site would have undoubtedly been swamped with them and those annoying yellow dancers..

Losing 23 points from winning positions is entirely your teams fault. Just as how us losing from 3-0 up on Sunday was our fault.

However, 7 points were gained entirely from ****-ups by other teams:

Sunderland vs Bolton - A Bolton own goal with only a few seconds of injury time - 2 extra points there
Sunderland vs Villa - You guys got another win because of an own-goal by Dunne - another 2 extra points
Sunderland vs Man City - They gave away a penalty in the 4th minute of injury time - another 2 extra points
Sunderland vs Birmingham - An own goal and a penalty meant that you guys drew at 2-2

That's a LOT of points and I wish we had that this season. I think we managed to get 3 points which were gifted in the same way. I was actually quite disappointed when we played Birmingham because we only won due to a penalty - despite dominating the game.

But I suppose that won't make this 'almighty victory' any less hollow for you guys. It would concern me though most definitely. You guys had dreams of Europe and spent loads of cash, yet it took a nice batch of luck and one single point to overtake us by the skin of your teeth when we've just came up. Victory? Celebration? I'd find that quite disappointing.

Anyway, this season has been WEIRD in every respect for all teams. Ridiculously tight. I think this will just be an anomaly though and things will go back to normal next season when all of the teams have brought in some new players.

I was actually a bit apprehensive when you guys stopped playing with strikers. Keeping in the same formation with Gyan got you nowhere, but the new formation without any recognised strikers seemed to start working.

Possibly. But hey, finishing above or even on the same level as a team who have spent millions and were challenging for Europe on our first season back would be a big accomplishment for us. No denying it.
