And we go above WHU for the first time this season. I'm confident that, with a little shuffling to and fro [they have two games in hand], we'll finish there too, as per my prediction way back when we were bottom of the Premier League in October.

Actually, I also said we'd finish between 10th and 13th. I fear I many have been a little cautious on that note. We'll see though. :)

Did you really say that we would finish above West Ham when we were bottom of the League?? Maybe you should remind us all every weekend so we don't forget ;)

IF Ramirez had cost less and had less hype no-one would question that he should be offloaded. Forget the hype. Forget he is definitely a great player. Premier League cannot afford to wait for players (or managers) to improve anymore. Davis > Ramirez. Lallana > Ramirez. Even Puncheon > Ramirez.

Forget about top 6 finishes if we are giving out excuses about 'settling in'.

So by your logic we should never buy anyone like a young Henry when Wenger picked him up? Thank goodness you're not in control of transfers if that's the case....

I've said this before and I'm sticking to it: we will not get into the top 6, let alone be able to cope in European competition, without players of Ramirez' quality. He will come good, just give him a chance. There is a huge difference between Serie A and the Prem, and he is slowly finding his feet. In a year you will forget you ever had any doubts about him.

Do you think he is crap?

No he isn't crap but he is not playing well enough to get in the first 11. He is behind Jay, Davis, Lallana, Puncheon!!! How can we say we are going to try and challenge the top half one moment and then say we are going to let 1 player take a whole year to gaion any consistency?

"Oh ye we won 2-0. oh wait, which player can we slag off". Seems to be the way of a few people on here.

With pleasure..!

I appreciate it might be a little bit tedious RSS, but I'm really pointing it out every week for Twixter, because he used to come on here and gloat so much. ;)

I'm sure he still pops along, too.

Woke up nice and early over here in America to watch the game... Didnt realise it was an early kick off! Great to know we won, but i find it does not feel as good without living through the 90 mins. Oh well chuffed with the win really looking forward to MOTD

I hope I am wrong but cannot understand the constant 'forgivings' of 1 player underperforming. I hope he does come good but how long do we give him? next season? The season after? Do you think Cortese or Poch will see it the same? I bet you they don't and Cortese for one will be questioning it no doubt. He isn't going to just put a brave front on to protect himself from looking silly. He will make a ruthless decision for the good of the team be sure of it.

What a great away win that nearly secures our safety.
Jesus people just bask in a grest result. No need to criticise anyone. They won as a team with everyone playing their part.

I didn't say that. I was just trying to defend him. Fed up with people slagging off players. Not many players at any clubs then up at instantly become consistent. I can't argue with others maybe being ahead of him at the moment. My point is he is quality, has had severL good games but not yet consistent... is that grounds for people to slag him off?

100%. Voice of reason and [cough] wisdom. :)

FFS, he has played well, just not consistent.

The trouble is that people seem to be angry at *him* for his price tag. Completely daft and not at all a constructive outlook. As others have said, let's bask in the 3 points for now please!

I think that Gaston is a victim of his transfer fee...he was integral to many of our attacks before he was substituted, linking with Rickie and Jay really well but people remember him for missing a chance. Does he bring something different and unpredictable to the squad?, yes he does and he is only going to get better.
Jay and Rickie were superb today with Rickie often dropping deeper to feed Jay with some excellent service, Corky and Morgan were their usual dominant selves and with Clyne and Shaw getting forward at every opportunity, the team's shape looks so good.

Sensible, reasoned post. I wish I could be that calm.
