£17m price tag slapped onto Carroll...

Just reading through some articles, and apparently you've slapped a hefty price tag on Carroll.

I really don't see why you can't just cut your losses and be reasonable about this.

You had a manager who was given too much money to spend and he blew 35m on a player that didn't fit the system.

If we were to offer you 8-10m that you could spend on a useful player, why wouldn't you just take it?

Carroll is only going to stay at WHU if Fat Sam agrees to say, and sources say that 'Arry is going there at the end of the season, and Sam is leaving.

Rodgers has said in the past it's a political stance you're taking in not allowing Carroll to leave for a lower fee, but I wish he'd take the spoon out of his arse. Carroll doesn't fit into your style, so you'd just be loaning him out again or having a useless player sit on the bench.

I thought selling him for £17m is cutting your losses.

He's one of only a very few target men that are suited to English football, and he's already settled at West Ham. Obviously to pay £35m, we must have seen something in him.

As for Carroll "fitting" our style, a good player would be able to fit any style if given the time.

I'm new to these boards so don't know if the lad who posted this is just on a wind up or not. However I do agree with his point...

I think we would be better off selling Carroll for £10m and then using that money to invest in the squad. That's better than having him on the bench or loaned out again. We have to view the £35m as a already paid cost and just view any money we get for him as a positive.

I'm sure the £17m is designed to be a starting point I can see a bid for lets say £12m being accepted or maybe even £10m with some other clause being attached. If we slapped a price tag of £10m then clubs will automatically knock off a few million.

Surely players who "sit on the bench" get a chance to prove their worth at some point. I'd be happy to see Mandy back at Anfield next season, as long as he's willing to fight for a place and as long as Rodgers was willing to let him try and prove his worth. If his value HAS dropped so far I don't see any problem giving him at least until Jan.

That's just feeding the media IMO. If we continue the stance of we don't want Carroll then it will continue to push the price down. We need to try and convince other clubs that we don't want to sell.

To be fair I could put a 17m price tag on my dump but I still wouldn't get it.

I think you will sell him in preseason for around £12m plus add ons
