Are we all bored to tears?? Read again what the OP said further down

A lad I know just tweeted me and said he was stood near to this lad at that game and said the excessive ban was probably due to the fact the lad threw the flare directly at someone. So that makes more sense, he was stupid with it.

Lets move on to another topic eh.

Not really, as it wasn't a flare and also, given the lies the Police used to fluff their case up, you'd think something like that would have been included in the HDM report.

I've only seen the on line story someone linked, was the version someone supposedly tweeted in the paper version?

Seems odd they'd invent and colour things but miss something like that.

No of course I don't know anything about the ultras. I know nothing about its violent history, the stabbing of rival fans and the intense territorial defending of terraces.
I suppose that the pretty displays of banners and flags isn't there to do anything other than create a vibrant atmosphere. Ultras don't get arrested do they?
What qualification do you need to be an ultra then, city and guilds in window dressing?
Scar, I willingly admit that in my opinion you are indeed a proper ultra and I am not taking the piss, you wear the gear and live the life, but you are perhaps one of few not one of many so please don't take offence by my posting. I don't like wannabes in any shape or form.

before you get shot down Mel i think they are talking about Hull City Ulltras, Which is more about bringing atmosphere to the KC , But do know were you are coming from with the other Ultras across Europe.

First they came for the flare-throwers,
    and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a flare-thrower.

Then they came for the ultras,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't an ultra.

Then they came for the drinkers,
    and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a drinker.

    Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me.

Peace Mel , your always a great poster just that the fighting stuff has gone years ago.

We can be Non Violent Ultras.

I do like that idea... Lots of noise and colour and the odd smoke bomb etc would be great in my opinion but sod the fighting stuff..

OK I accept the flag and banner thing, but I cannot accept that lighting a flare is anything but dangerous. I would accept flares if I knew that there was a possibility of one being lit and had a choice as to being near it or not. I would also accept that if I knew that there was no possibility of it causing a fire or harm I wouldn't get too concerned. I look at it the same as smoking, I'm not bothered about the passive side, but I hate the smell and butts.

Flares aren't used at football, they're a specific type of cold burning smoke bomb. There's no fire risk and no risk to health.

I'm amazed that there have not been several cases of people being burnt, fixtures and fittings being badly damaged if there have been 10 away games where these 'inflammable', 'high temperature' flares are being used.

    Unless of course........

I think the ban the other fan got for not committing an offence is of more danger to fans.

Surprised the kid didn't plead not guilty.

Less surprised that Porkoran is either lying through his teeth or just badly informed about the nature of the smoke flare used.

If there was an obvious area where, for the want of a term, the Ulltra's would stand then I can't see why not. It could even enable something practical to drop them in when they're spent instead of leaving a dusty mess on the floor.

I wouldn't to be to near the stinking things mind. But that's not comment on the health risk, just personal choice. <laugh>

Corcoran and the spotties do tend to pick targets that are leased likely to get decent legal advice. They may be cowardly, but they're not quite daft enough to want the true case to get out.

I can't seem to find the arrests for the people the lad banned for no offence must have been near.

DMG if I go to a firework display I generally expect to see smoke a hear loud bangs. But I dont at football matches. If as I said I knew that there could be "smoke bombs" going off, thats fine, I wouldnt have anything to worry about as I wouldnt be near them. If the Hull City Ultras want to do something like that, they should do it with the clubs consent and assistance, just like the banner that was walked around the stadium, the club knew and it was fine. If they had just turned up and wanted to do it, they would have been stopped. If for instance a group of lads approached the club and said that this is what we want to do to create get the crowd going, this is what we would like to use and this is where we would like to use them. Fine by me as long as the game is not interfered with in any way and no one can get hurt.

I don't disagree with any of that. My understanding is that a group are in communication with the Club pretty much as you suggest.

That only covers home games, but as dialogue gets more involved, away ticket allocations could be tweaked so that those that want to sit can be located in front of those that prefer not to and those that want a more raucous event can be grouped together. Away clubs could be approached for their policy on standing etc. and groups advised accordingly.

Thing is it won't ever happen..

I bet if someone threw a Bog Roll like in days gone when We scored said person would get a 3 year ban and 6 months in nick.... Good job our goalie doesn't come out and say he loves oranges .

My two Neices were only waving a flag about after City scored v forest and a ****ty little steward was giving them daggers.
