(Just for you)

Col may be jealous![]()
Are you ****ing with my intellectual property Dave? It's not a copyright/ broader ownership issue Dave, this in particular is about a bit of respect for fellow QPR fans who write these blogs wishes. In general I agree with you, but in this case lets be nice.
Point taken.
Brilliant. That is probably the funniest post I've ever read on this board.Uber_Hoop:4375240 said:Ah, it is a vanity thing, then.
How did we ever manage in the time before "QPR entertainment" was available on't 'net?
If I can cast my mind back that far it was: Shoot magazine, Match Weekly, Football Weekly News, Football Focus, MotD, The Big Match, Saint & Greavsie, Sportsnight, the sports slots at the end of the news bulletins and the back pages of the daily press. Oh, and from simply talking and listening (using these things called a mouth and a pair of ears) to other footie mad chums. It was all timely enough in them thar days, eh?
Whenever Smiffy told me some soccer titbit, I used to hot-tail it over to Strangely Brown on my Raleigh Chopper and tell him that Smiffy had a hot piece of footie news.
"What is it?" Strangely Brown would ask me eagerly.
"I'm not allowed to say", I would reply,"but here's his telephone number and his home address. Best ask him yourself. I think he'd be a bit upset if I simply told you. But he'd get a real kick if half of Bash Street were to tap on his door for the news".
"Isn't it enough that you've given him a namecheck?" Brown would quiz.
"No", I would sigh,"you've got to go and give him a rub personally."
I voted precisely because the thread title and question were so totally skewed, to try and counter-weight it a little. Maybe that was a mistake and I should of just ignored it as most others have done. Or, given that there is apparently a ârightâ and âwrongâ answer her, perhaps that is exactly what you intended? i.e. that only those who have the same view as you feel that they are able to cast a vote here? You understood it and voted, wrongly, but that's your right.............democracy![]()

There are some interesting and valid issues to discuss here, and Thaiâs compromised suggestion is a potential starting point (although I personally wouldnât be in favour of it). However, although Iâm more than happy to have a reasoned debate to discuss the freedom of information versus crediting writers issue, this ludicrous âIs it okay to rip off fellow QPR fans; Yes or Noâ poll is not the way to have it.
By the way, is this the same Northolt who posted more articles in full in his time as mod than the rest of us put together? A contribution which laid the very foundations of what this site has now become, and for which Iâll always be grateful. Are the rules different now that this isnât your turf anymore?
Either way, Iâll tell you for a fact that we are seriously going to try and stop Kiwi, Nines, Norway and the rest posting QPR articles on here then we might as well all give up and go home right now. Forget all the protracted debate about Off Topic threads and NSFW sub-forums. In terms of QPR subject matter this site would be dead, save for the occasional thread about girls in bikinis.
Thatâs not something Iâd like to see just to ensure other outside sites get a few extra hits.
I think a lot of people, including this lad are completely missing the point.
It's about respecting the wishes of only a handful of other QPR sites & bloggers(even the king of C&P QPRreport does that). And anyone that does get that point,& still disagrees, especially after reading what roller said is a bit a CnT IMO.
Two points:
1. Firstly, there is no call for the abusive language.
2. Secondly, in response to your above comment, that’s not actually what the poll asked. If it was, then you would need to define this “handful of other QPR sites and bloggers”
That’s me done on this thread. I’d like to say that it’s been a constructive debate, but it absolutely hasn’t.
I'm a bit of a CnT IMO, then.![]()
I tried to 'cut and paste' an article the other day.......but I broke the screen and the glass stuck to my fingers.
I'll get my coat......
There is an obvious flaw in your short sighted comment Dave. If the world is now solely copy and paste where do you think your QPR entertainment is going to come from? Perhaps you believe that there is already enough material in existence and everyone will be content with copying and paste the same text over and over again? Perhaps you believe that no new material has an validity? Maybe you are content with the anodyne output from the official website and national papers? If not then what do you propose that people will be copying and pasting?
There are some great bloggers out there, they should be encouraged not abused. If you enjoy their work give them something back. Are you really content with 140 characters a threads wondering where Swords is or do you want something to get your teeth stuck into? If all you aspire to in this world Dave is a load of retweets then you and I havenât got much in the way of common ground.
Iâve made no bones about this on the previous thread. Iâm shallow enough to enjoy seeing the hits on my blog stack up; yes it is a form of vanity if you like. As just one example, I had over 200 hits from a Cardiff City message board on an article I wrote about Tommy Smith when he left us, if they had just copied and pasted the whole piece I wouldn't have ever known. For professional sites such as the excellent West London Sport the issue is about advertising revenues. If their hits drop off they will lose their advertising and cease to exist.
Iâm not concerned what anyone does with articles from the online presence of any of the nationals, the few hits that they would get from a forum like ours is almost irrelevant to them, but for QPR orientated sites and individual bloggers in general please show some respect. As Northolt so succinctly says, it is the right thing to do.
Is clicking on a link really that much of a price to pay to ensure the continuity of new material?
