This thing with the goalscoring is an on-going problem at the club going back a few years now, Barmby was berated because of it and now it seems Bruce is getting flak too. There is a simple answer to this question is and that is the club has to sign at least one proven goalscorer, not getting 2 is understandable given that we have Fryatt already even if he is crocked. The punt on Proschwitz hasn't worked out as they should have got a proven goalscorer in our kind of football not the continent where they play a different game. He can still come good really but they picked the wrong player to get the goals.

Then lets wind back the clock, play Faye and Hobbs and watch them both get injured in a game that doesn't matter to us one way or another...

Not in the FA Cup, I'm talking about league games, why was Bruce and McShane playing against Peterborough? They will probaly play against Millwall too when Hobbs and Faye should play

Hobbs came back looking like he'd never been away, I was amazed that he didn't start at Peterborough and I was disappointed that he didn't start today.

Is Bruce being picked because he's the best option, or is he being picked because he's the gaffers son? It's a question that can easily be avoided, by not signing your own son, if he's good enough, someone else will sign him.

Just one small point, Windass started with us as a midfielder and was converted to striker as an emergency and look how that turned out. Although to be fair he was one of the best ever midfielders I've seen wearing a Tigers shirt, shame we couldn't clone him.

Hobbs has fairly recently returned from injury and Faye likely can't handle a run of games... We don't see what Bruce does in training. I agree about McShane, he's dire. But Bruce Jr can do a good job and seems to be the most vocal of our defenders.

As mentioned above we're struggling with scoring... as a result when we conede the odd goal (as you're going to in many games) we end up losing and drawing games instead of winning. Week in week out, other teams in this league will put 2, 3 or 4 past a team and win with a decent goal margin. We do this maybe two or three times a season. It's not good enough but the fact that we're 3rd is both baffling and pleasantly surprising.

The way things went in second half today, I'd have been happy to see Faye brought on to play up front.

spot on - **** knows why Bruce is playing - we're back to hoof ball with him in the side - we have much more composure with Faye and Hobbs - Meyler was total gash today - he just doesnt get stuck in and slows things down too much partly cos he has no pace

Don't get this Faye can't play loads of games crap, everytime he plays he's our best defender, look at over the Christmas period, absolute quality against Derby, Leicester and Leeds. Hobbs the same, he's not looked like he's struggled apart from against Wednesday, when he wasn't even the worst of a bad bunch. Bruce can't trap or pass a ball and only looks so good because his positioning is so **** he has to dive into tackles, as I've said all season.

Koren needs to play in midfield, because otherwise we're not going to create many chances without Elmo, even if it means recalling McLean or starting with Simpson with Proschwitz.

I didn't state it as fact, I said 'likely'... And what if that IS the case? My point is we don't know for sure because we don't see what Bruce sees in training. I agree he should be playing every game. The only logical reason for me that he doesn't play every game is that he isn't fit enough to do so consitently. But you nor I know if that's the case despite how 'crap' you think it might be.

As for McShane, I disagree with his MOM's. He's dire and gets so lucky by getting away with constant mistakes. Letting the ball bounce, getting turned, pulling shirts and manhandling attackers every game. People can suck his rod as much as they like for now but they'll probably side with everyone else in bashing him when he inevitably starts dropping clangers in important games again. Bruce knows this too... That's why he played in a game that didn't matter. At least I'm consistent... but I'd love him to prove me wrong.

Although I agree with the sentiment, ISTPLT, we didn't dominate quite as much as you reckon we did - possession 50-50 <whistle>

There is **** all wrong with either the defence or the midfield and attack, that is a ****ing joke right? It is our finishing that is the problem, was the same last year. Until we get that sorted we are pissing in the wind. It also think you lot have been unfair to McShane, He has hardly put a foot wrong this season, certainly no more than an others in the defence and I think if big Olly hadn't have got in the way he would of been on the scoresheet yesterday.

Nothing wrong with our attack? are you deluded? Finishing is the job of the attackers. Also I have said that there isn't a lot wrong with the defence and the midfield, did you even read my post or just quote it?

Maybe crap was a bit strong, but he was sat on the bench for about 6 weeks earlier in the season, comes back and doesnt put a foot wrong, then gets dropped again for macca and Bruce who arent in the same league as him. I hope its just Bruce managing him because if age, but I think his preferred back 3 is the one hes playing now.

To be fair I do get his point to an extent, even if it's not worded brilliantly.

And I agree - our strikers do everything right except the finish. They get in the right positions, they turn the right way...(granted not always, but enough to score a goal or two) but it always glances just wide.

I don't know, maybe we should just tell Simpson/Aluko to just whack the bloody thing - they're the type of finishers who try and place it beautifully in the corner as opposed to just smashing it in a the general direction of the right/left of the goal.

I agree about Bruce. Ecerytime he got the ball, he was hoofing it for prozzy to get a flick on to....... Nobody!

Disagree about Meyler though. He didn't have a great game but he makes intelligent runs and gets into good positions. He goes down to easy but atleast he actually battles for the ball.
