That looks like one random ass vault. Talking of which, the quest Oasis, which option did you go for in the end? I want to do the option which causes the growth of the tree and associated vegetation, as it'd be nice to have some greenry about but I'd feel bad for making that mutant tree chap suffer.

Bizarre rumours flying around at Liverpool.

Suso has apparently deleted his Twitter after being caught "sexting" a 17 year old girl, which then turned out to be a 17 year old guy, a Liverpool fan, who'd set up a fake account. His (Suso's) girlfriend has also dumped him over the whole thing after the fan outed him.

Yep heard this last night but didn't know if true or not. Still don't but deleting his account around the same time makes it look so, funny as **** either way <laugh>.

Hello all. I've got my first 'proper' job interview coming up this Wednesday for a job that I really want. I would have liked to have some other interviews before this one to know what to expect, get some feedback etc. As I'm sure there are lots of people on here who have lots of experience with interviews or even interview as part of their job, any tips would be gratefully received!?

Mine is look confident, plenty of eye contact and make sure you don't tapping your fingers etc. If you feel you are going to either hide them or grip your legs or something. Confidence is massive in a interview also speak clearly and at a steady pace, nothing worse then not being able to understand a person.

Agree with all that Beef. Also be honest and don't try and bluff or exaggerate your achievements.

Cheers Beef. There's going to be three interviewers so I guess I'm going to have to try and keep eye contact with all three! Luckily when I'm in situations with people I don't know I normally speak more loudly and clearly than normal so hopefully that will continue to be the case in an interview. I'm essentially revising a lot of my job relevant uni work to make sure I'm up on my scientific terminology etc. and will be making sure I know all about the organisation. I'll be reading up on the some of the interviewers work (Ones a Prof and another a Dr) just in case there's an instance where that is brought up.

What's the standard format of an interview. By which I mean, will they question me on the information I provided in my application form or questions relating to the job and what makes me the best candidate?

Varies in my experience. When you have more than one interviewer concentrate on the person asking you the question.

Well when I interview some one I would ask a few questions on both, I also take most of the stuff written on paper with a pinch of salt. All being well you may have a great record etc, but if I didn't like the guy or feel he was right for my company I wouldn't hire him. So basically win over the interviewers with your personality.

If they asked you for examples on their application form worth having a back up. e.g. Can you give me another example of when you .........

Try to think of some questions that they might be likely to ask and prepare answers for them. Like for example, on the interview I had on Friday, I was asked what I felt were the particular challenges facing the sector (academic publishing sector) which I kind of expected to come up so I had an answer already in my head and was able to give what I felt was a good answer.

Not that I should be giving interview advice as I keep failing all of them. <wah>

Good idea. I'll make sure I know what I've said in the application form and have some other examples of how magnificent I am to hand <ok>

Can't really afford to go out abroad for several months tbh. I have a lot of voluntary experience in the charity sector in this country though. From office based interships to standing at Earl's Court train station hoping people give me moneeeeey.

Well to be fair you can't prepare for every single possible question as there's always something that's gonna come up which no-one else has asked which you hadn't thought of. I dunno what the job is either but generally questions will be competency based and will ask for examples. There will probably on the lines of 'tell us about a time when you've faced a problem and how you overcame it' or something like that. If it's a role where you are involved in communicating with an external audience, they may say tell us about when you've had to deal with a difficult customer and how you overcame that....

The job title is 'Coastal Processes Scientist' which would make me sound much smarter than I am <laugh> But yeah I understand what you are saying. I will have lots of University based examples to give on fieldwork and the relating reports that I've been involved with that are relevant to the job role. i.e. data collection, analysis and scientific writing.

Don't tell them that you are a Skate supporter, that would be a bad move indeed.
