Happy happy just checked tonight's lottery and I had 4 numbers which is £92 just before payday to :)

Well done for successfully beating the 13,545 in 13,983,816 odds, which is 1,032-1.

People complaining about the price of petrol get no sympathy from me.

They shoot past me at 80 plus mph on the M3 and jump in their cars for the shortest journey they also accelerate like idiots away from the lights.

I'm a miserable old git but I can get of my arse and walk to the newsagent and I always used to walk my grandaughters to school even though they whinged about it.

If you really want to save on fuel it is easy - just drive less and when you have to drive then drive more sensibly.

With a bit of effort you can half your petrol costs and give the environment a bit of a break.

As you know St.G energy varies as a function of half of mass multiplied by velocity squared, which means by my calculation that an 80mph driver uses 31% more energy than a 70mph driver. Of course my bicycle cost £74 and it's still working, and my legs were free. Maths lesson over. :D

I was walking home the other day - a fairly long walk, but easily manageable - and a taxi driver slowed down and, with a concerned look on his face, asked if I'd like a lift. Now I appreciate his generosity, but I'm 22 years old and my legs work fine. Is walking simply a strange thing to do nowadays?

Sadly it is a strange thing to do for many. If I can I will walk or cycle. I walked to Uni. I used to cycle to work or the gym. Save money and keep fit at the same time.

I don't drive, so I walk regularly (granted, mostly to-and-from the train station but it's still a long walk). I've not once been stopped and offered a lift :(

I'd hate to not be able to get on a tube without people staring and taking photos.

I was down in Guildford a couple of weeks ago, and had the friendliest taxi driver ever. Maybe you just look intimidating or creepy.

I recall a story from Rio Ferdinand. He got the train to training (look what I did there), and a woman was taking a picture of him from underneath her book.

He noticed it and asked if she wanted a photo. All of a sudden she said she didn't, then he told her he wasn't angry and to have a photo.

Got a fellow passenger to take it. I remember he said he doesn't mind people asking nicely, but don't just be sly and take one.

Have you bought a new calculator and are breaking it in or something Qwerty? ;)

Israel is entering the war in Syria. Not entirely sure what this means, but **** is going down.

It means that they will expect The USA to stand right beside them, because that's what the USA historically does. But it might not happen this time. Israel have always shouted Holocaust, and rightly so, but they don't do themselves any favours at all with the way they treat their neighbours. And for me, Netanyahu is almost a war monger, such is his zeal to react with military might.

Blimey, I've just noticed [actually it's not true, I've noticed this quite a few times but never had the moment to change things] that this thread is 2219 posts long, including mine [or more if you're a quick poster]. So I'm wrapping it up shortly and starting another. So if you're just about to start typing, hang on a minute or two.
