My day has been quiet and uneventful, and right now I'm watching Christmas episodes of South Park whilst eating Flumps, lots and lots of flumps.

 

That's what I thought when I read it. Can't believe I'm actually agreeing with something Piers Morgan has said, but it just goes to show that PM was brought up in a British culture of no guns in the hands of the ordinary person. It doesn't mean you can't defend yourself, as someone from the USA might suggest, but that the attacker isn't likely to have a gun either. That's something the average American citizen doesn't seem to be able to get their head around; i.e. take away the guns, and we're all on the same level again, only one level less deadly.

Yes, we know that guns are obtainable, illegally by the ordinary person, even in GB, or under special licence of usage. But we don't have people being able to walk into shops and legally buying handguns and ammunition on a whim either. It's simply far too easy to buy the ability to commit violence, causing injury or death, in the USA. When will they learn that they need to change their precious 2nd Amendment to their Constitution..? It was not written in stone, for all time.

You never see a gun in this country though, even if there are ways to get them. Even most cops don't have them and are capable of dealing with most situations with just their hands, spray or baton. Most cops don't even have any training with guns.
