I came away from Wembley numb, dazed and bloody shattered but above all. Proud as punch.

Mark Proctor missing the penalty which would have taken us 3 up against Barnsley, we got beaten 3-2 and that put us in the relegation play off's I believe - but stand to be corrected.
1987, and that play semi final 2nd leg at roker park. I was mad and sad that we went down and the mags in the roker end only made it worse. Yes that defeat against Barnsley put us in the then first season and only season i think of that type off play-off. I detest the play-offs anyhow teams have been done for finishing 3rd. the teams that finishes 3rd 4th 5th and 6th should play for a champions league place, but you imagine Wenger's face when told that!.

Despite winning our last match against Portsmouth, hearing on the radio that Leicester had beat Birmingham to send us down for the first time ever.
Oddly enough, none of the many relegations since, have felt as bad as that day, even when we went down into the old 3rd division.

Glad I never had that to deal with, relegation has been par for the course my entire SAFC supporting life!
1987 was my first full season, so I guess in a way we are considerably better than when I first felt the hook!
