Go talk on the Watford board. When you get to the premier league, we may take anything you have to say about it seriously. Or then again probably not, as you are a complete knob.

I watch the same games as everybody else so know exactly what I'm talking about regardless of who I support. I'm guessing you have made the odd comment about champions league games........

  5. So it is. My bad.

The Toon are still favourites, though <ok>

Sorry HIAG but they're not. They're 4/7 (which i think is a bit stingy) and newcastle are 5/1 which i think is a massive price. To be honest though i'd be more interested in the draw at 3s if i was ghaving a bet. Mind you i think they will win tomorrow so there's no value in the game at all in my opinion.

  7. Oh, don't get me wrong, Dan. I know that the Mousers will be favourites at the bookies, but that's only because every Mouser puts at least a tenner of his hard-earned dole-money on 'Pool winning every match, and it skews the odds.

When I say "favourites" I'm talking about the objective assessment of us non-partisan and unbiased armchair pundits.

Not at all, the fact that Spurs like the above have all suffered relegation since the good old halcyon days of success seems lost on you, our record post league champion status has brought us multiple trophies but never relegation.

Do you know what 'support' is?

I was lucky enough to grow up when we were a dominant force and enjoyed winning all before us, but equally I have seen us win the biggest prize in European Football against all the odds, and all the detractors like yourself. I've watched on when during our 'demise' we've still won more trophies than many clubs have won in their whole history.

    I BELIEVE in my club.

Show me a football fan who isn't delusional and I guarantee he supports an unsuccessful team.

  12. You ask that question of a Spurs fan who started supporting his side around 1969, and despite the fact that we've never won the league, and suffered relegation!

Yes, I know what true support is, not the glory-hunting kind, where the little boy supports the team that is doing the best.

So I'm sure at the start of every one of those 43 seasons you thought Spurs were going to do better than the previous season, is that delusion?

If the last line is a little dig at me, I had no choice in the team I support, I supported Liverpool when I had no comprehension of what 'doing the best' was and I would support them even if your doomsday scenario came to pass.

    Well said.

  15. It was hope, more than anything else. I never expect Spurs to win the league, because it has never happened since I've been supporting them.

How can "hoping" that one's team does well be viewed as delusion?

"Expecting" your team to do well when there is absolutely no objective basis for holding such an expectation, that is delusion. That is what you Mousers suffer from.

I remember reading an interview given by Robbie Fowler, a couple of seasons back, when he was quoted as saying "Liverpool deserve to be in the top 4." That summed up the delusion that afflicts every Mouser I have ever known, and it afflicts you, too, The King. Even your tag smacks heavily of delusion.

No, it isn't a dig specifically at you. I suppose it's a dig at all Mousers.

  16. I actually want the Mousers to win, because a win for the Toon puts them within striking distance of us, and that would make them dangerous. I simply do not view 'Pool as being a danger to us, so them winning would not be so bad.

However, it's clearly the case that Pardew is not only a far better manager than Roy Rodgers, but he also clearly has the better squad, especially as regards attacking options. I simply cannot see past a Toon win.

I have never expected my team to win the league either, I've seen them do it and it's brought me great joy (an expected victory means little would you not agree?), In the past I have started the season hoping we win the league again, and those hopes have now turned to hoping we can get ourselves back in the top 4. You will say we have no objective basis to hope these thing, but when 'Arry walked into a club flirting with relegation I'm sure his expectations were to get his team in the champions league despite the evidence that this would be a difficult task.

But I guess you are right, I have always expected my team to do 'well', and I go in to every game believing they can win (there's a difference in believing and expecting) regardless who we play, even at our worst, every defeat has hurt. I know as a Spurs fan there are certain games you play where your expectation is to lose (such as Utd at Old Trafford, I'm sure you had many fans shocked at that result) we don't have games like that, we even go to the Nou Camp believing we can win, call that delusion, but it happened.

You 'expect' to beat certain teams do you not?
You 'expect' our team to do well, otherwise you wouldn't have mocked our league position last season.

Yes Dalglish is our king, there is nothing delusional in that (I hope you don't think I chose that title because I think I am a king?) for all he has done for our club, we honoured him with this as a sign of respect and thanks.

I could also counter that your own tag smacks heavily of delusion (as well as bad taste considering Hoddle's views on religion).

I guess that's something being successful we have to live with, there are few living Liverpool fans who can claim they chose to support an unsuccessful team.

  18. I absolutely have to share this with you, my Spurs kin!

There's a thread over on the Mouser board, entitled "Only whisper it, but a win today..." and it has to be the most delusional post I have ever read!

In that thread, all of the Mousers on this forum have come together to whip each other up into a frenzy that a win today against the Toon will put them within spitting distance of 4th spot, and that they could then go on a winning streak and clinch a 4th place finish, for the end of the season!

No, I'm not making this up! Go onto their board and read this drivel.

Here is what one particular Mouser has written:-

"I said this on another thread, that if we can keep on the coat-tails of our rivals until January and then sign a 1 or 2 strikers, we've got a massive chance of getting 4th."

    <laugh>

Now, for the benefit of the Mousers who visit this board, I will explain to you why all of this is pure delusion.

Firstly, there is no balanced discussion regarding 'Pool's actual chances of winning today, on the simple basis that the Toon is a much stronger side than 'Pool.

Secondly, there is an abject lack of any appreciation for the fact that, over the course of the entire season, results tend to even themselves out, so that the strongest sides usually come out on top.

Thirdly, there is an abject lack of any appreciation that, other than the two Manc clubs and the Chavs, there are several other teams far stronger than 'Pool, namely, Spurs, Everton, Arsenal, Fulham, West Brom, and Swansea, as well as the Toon.

Fourthly, there is absolutely zero consideration given to the fact that you probably have one of the worst managers in the EPL.

Finally, there is zero consideration given to the fact that you have one of shallowest squads in the EPL.

On that one thread, the Mousers have demonstrated why there is an absolute need for this thread, with its balanced, non-partisan, and subjective view-point.

I really would urge you Mousers to petition your blinkered mods, to permit me back on your board, so that I can bring a little bit of balance to some of your debates, and help to prevent them from spiraling out of control into the realms of pure fantasy.

Liverpoo will be no where near the top 4 come May but I have sneaky feeling they will win today..... probably with controversial refereeing decisions going against Newcastle.

It's also brought you long streaks of utter irrelevance, which seems lost on you.

Arsenal are more relevant than Liverpool these days, yet their last eight years are summed up in one word: stagnation. if a club that has stagnated is more relevant than Liverpool, what does that make Liverpool?
