Don't understand Nigel's reasoning here really. Couldn't give less of a toss about the Cups this season, but an oppurtunity to pick up confidence and momentum for a team that is sorely lacking both of those things is not an oppurtunity we can afford to miss. I can understand if a few players are feeling the effects of Sunday then give them a rest, but there's no chance that none of our first 11 couldn't make it back for this game or at least play a part. Obviously we are just putting a dummy team out there and whilst I do understand it's good to give the kids and reserves a run-out, and that the cup is not high on our priorities, in our current situation I don't see the downside of sending out as many first teamers as possible, especially in the defence where we need consistency and trying to pick up a win and some confidence.
Ah well.
Whispering Dave at his best, "we mustn't give another away". Well of course.
you only say the cup is worthless when your losing...Its the second biggest cup after the fa cup and only league clubs can play in, tell the eventual winners its a Micky mouse cup..

Arsenal have pulled one back!!
We still have yet to get a shot at the goal.
So when do we give the up and coming players experience? against Chelsea?
and why will a defeat of the second team reduce the confidence of the first team players who didn't play?
the only people losing confidence are the fans on this forum - and for no reason at all!
Goals galore for Saints 2nd 11 after a little chat at half time.
Can't remember a positive post on here for weeks
