You are very entitled to your opinion with regards to Shola or anything else for that matter, and l would be the first to say so. What l dislike are the posts you
make which are juvenile, obscene and pointless. That is my opinion which l am also entitled too. A classic example of which is the second post you made on the "books" thread. Completely unnecessary and tasteless, my point is, if you took the time to read what l said properly, is that interspersed with the nonsense which is
beginning to irritate now, are some well reasoned and often humorous posts, which just goes to show that you do have valid opinions and can express them well. You may also notice that l have never attacked you in any personal or aggressive way, merely asked you politely to think about what you contribute to
the forum and the language you use to express it.

If you don't like my horrid posts then just ignore them. I find most people in life are too serious and bore the living daylights of of me but I let them get on with it. I am of a very different fabric than most people I assure you.

Anyway peace but stop lording it over me because you don't know me at all.

I dont give a monkeys about swearing but I'll try and keep it down a tad.

In fact can we close this thread? I'm not in the best of moods today and don't want anyone getting at me.

Come on, by supporting role he means something a la Alan Smith, Geremi or Cacapa. He's part of the team Shola, and he's useful. He started today, did okay, part playing gifting Brom a goal, he also made our first. I always feel Shola is better coming off the bench though than starting, this has always been the case.

Shola has spent pretty much all of his career as our third/fourth choice striker, whether that be behind Shearer/Bellamy, Owen/Martins or Ba/Cisse. In the Championship he was our main man before injury and he was scoring for fun!

He's one of the physically strongest strikers in the league with pretty decent hold up play. Not saying he is top class but he is not without his qualities.

As third-choice strikers go he is more than fine, he doesn't want the Xisco treatment but Pardew has him in the rotation system so I can't see him getting too upset. Naturally he's going to come out and say he wants to start games, if he said, "oh I'm happy to just sit on the bench and keep out of trouble (Owen)" we'd be more annoyed!

That should indicate hes not good enough as he has never broken through despite countless starts in matches.

I like him as a man but he's simply not good enough!! he's a championship top scorer that never was.

Shola is not a winger but put the ball in for goal, then did what Shola does best, went walk about.

Shola has done well this season, but today he was poor.

he is generally always poor other than games he isn't playing in.

If were 1-0 away from home and you need someone to break the game up and waste time bring him on but if you need a goal or a player to do anything remotely intelligent think again.

Every club needs it's reliable squad players, not everyone has to be a superstar.

The fact he has stuck around has been largely beneficial for the club since when he steps in to cover our starting strikers he usually offers something. He has his ineffective days but as a sub he is disruptive and he has a knack for scoring goals in tight spots.

He's a model professional and a great role model for our younger players. He's a valuable member of the dressing room (yes that matters) and gives the kids something to aspire to in training.

Lastly and yes, rose tinted, he is a proud Geordie. I care about that sort of thing and I enjoy seeing him succeed more than other players as a result.

He is good enough for the job he does, strong hold up play and benchman who won't complain. He is the bike-riding, apple-munching version of Harper. <ok>

Shola was almost brawling a couple of times today, he doesn't normally have that side to his game, seems to have reinvented himself.

With Him or Harper, there are times when I get seriously worried that they're in the lineup..

Shola Ameobi has never, and will never be a world beater.

He's always been limited in the application of his skills.

We've all seen flashes of brilliance over the years, the singular most frustrating thing with Shola is that we know he can do it, it's just he is completely incapable of sustaining any momentum he creates.

It's a crying shame really, but Shola is a Toon legend for varying reasons... perhaps more a case of being infamous!

    Sigh.

Put the ball on Ba's head inside 2 minutes. Played in the ball for the goal. Did the work Cisse doesn't like to do. Has been at least as effective as the rest of the team all season.

Cost us a goal playing the onside? wasted a good chance ! anyone can jump and flick headers on in hope. It was Ba 's turn that created the goal!! Are you seriously suggesting we should continue playing hi ahead of Cisse?
