im not a chelsea supporter,im welsh,so dont really care about the english stuff...but am actually feeling sorry for terry,on the pitch,in front of the cameras etc, over the years hes handled himself impeccably,he was aquitted by a court of law for the racial stuff.so my question is why wasnt anton ferdinand dragged before an fa tribunal for refusing to shake certain chelsea players hands (as were offered),it is afterall an fa directive that players shake hands before each game.seems to me this bloke (ferdinand)doesnt know when to stop dragging th name of football through the mud

The only African team that would cause that problem would be Egypt, if they planned to field a team of camels. Because that's the only way ****e like Ferdinand would ever deceive their way into a national team.

How many more times! AF did not bring the charge. It was an off duty policemen watching on TV

See previous comment. AF did not bring the charge.
'Impecable' - Yeah right
For what it is worth I do not believe JT is a racist and things are said in the heat of a game. It was a hostile atmosphere.

Nothing quite like generating a ton of 'sympathetic' media headlines on the morning of an FA hearing, is there?

All smacks of cynicism to me, whether from John Terry himself or from his advisors

Looking forward to his retraction once the hearing and his ban (if any) have been served.

Despite the furor surrounding this case and JT's antics off the field, you're being biased if you don't believe Terry has always given 100% for his country. Yes, his best years are behind him but people can't deny how vital he has been to England.

I really couldn't care less about his motives for resigning now, if it's PR stunt or whatever. All I do know this that England have been significantly weakened. The last England player that had as much passion and pride playing for his country was Beckham.

So say what you want about Terry as a person, criticize his character but don't dare ever question his passion for England. <ok>

This <applause>

His devotion to his country was fantastic. You had people on 5live last night questionning his passion.. what a load of rollocks. He gives his all in every game. Anyhow England's loss is our gain. Viva John Terry!

I will, Terry said "I will never turn my back on England" so clearly the passion is questionable and he is a proven liar.

seems the scum again back thier racist..must have been the thought of shaking hands with all those blacks in Brazil that made him give up...!!

Personally, i believe he WAS Englands best CB a while ago, but those days a re long gons after being mugged countless times by european players.

I dont doubt his commitment to England because where else would the son of a drug dealer who is a s thick as **** ever get any recognition.

To form an opinion of JT as a man, try imagining what he would be doing if he could not play football...not a pretty picture is it.

his retirement is a blessing for both England and Chelsea. England may finally evolve and Chelseas ageing CB may save his legs for the Prem...win win to me !

Agree. It is not Anton's fault...but could he have stopped the escalation of this incident?

In all honesty (and not just as a QPR fan) - no he couldn't. The complaint was made and the CPS determined that there was enough evidence for a trial. They called AF as a witness, and he was then legally obliged to attend and testify. He didn't call the case, and so he couldn't stop it. Then the FA charge Terry, and again call AF as a witness. Under the FA's rules, he is obliged to attend and answer their questions - he cannot refuse and even if he did, it's not his case to cancel.

It COULD have all been dealt with 11 months ago, had John Terry apologised for what he said, even if it was said in the heat of the moment what he has admitted saying is wrong. Then his lawyers pushed for a delay to the trial until after the Euro2012 championships, and once the trial was over and the FA charge was brought, Terry demanded a personal hearing, thereby delaying the matter even further. I think that if you are looking for someone who could have (and probably should have) stopped the escalation, you need look no further than John Terry himself.

He can't win can he <laugh>. You're a fool if you question his passion and dedication to the sport, you lot don't appreciate him as a player so why the **** should he put on the shirt?

How about checking out Anton 'I never heard it but I refuse to shake his hand anyway' Ferdinand's history of telling the truth for the Spammers before calling Terry a liar by the way

Exactly.

Whilst Anton couldn't have stopped the process, why given: -

a. he didn't hear anything
b. admitted himself to using foul and offensive language on the pitch himself
c. Terry not guilty.

Do we still have a situation when Anton won't let it lie? Not shaking JT and Cole's hand was frankly embarrasing. He needs to grow up and has come out of this looking a fool.

Why apologise? Terry has through out stuck to his story so why admit guilt when you believe you're not guilty? That's why we have a justice system...which found Terry not guilty. Deal with it.
