Once or twice is not a hell of a lot, and if he's such a good striker of the ball he should be getting them on target. Finishing off a chance is not poaching, again he should have scored if the opportunity was there. What does that matter, do you get extra points for hitting it in the corner? Why do they? 1 goal + 3 assists = not good enough!
How has it? Ignore the players we didn't actually use last season like Harper, Adebola, and Kilbane who were never really part of the squad and were loaned out at the first opportunity and we've got much better squad depth this season. GK - still got 2 (at a time last season) LB - still got the same two - Daws and Dudge RB - still got the same two - Rosie and McShane (and we didn't have McShane after January last season) CB - got more experianced players - last season had Chester, Hobbs, Cooper, and Bradley, now got Chester, Faye, Cooper, Bruce plus Hobbs to come back CM - same 2 - Evans and McKenna CM - same 2 - Olofinjana and Cairney (at least we did until Donny, and it's quite short to have expected them to find a suitable replacement when there's plenty of time to cover a 3 month injury with an emergency loan) Koren role - extra player this year in Aluko CF - we've added Prossy to Fryatt, Simpson, and McLean, with Cullen going out on loan. Only position we're lighter in is out wide where Brady, King, Stewart and Garcia have only been replaced by Elmo and Quinn, and if we're going to play 532 then that's not actualy an issue as the position doesn't exist. In that situation you'd actually consider Elmo the second RWB and have McShane as yet another option at CB instead, with Quinn becoming an extra option in the centre.
The league's tougher this year and that's not a squad that's likely to match last seasons finish, never mind beat it. I think our season is now dependant on who else we get on emergency loan until January, if it's Meyler and a decent striker, maybe Powell, then it might be enough.
It might be going back to this time last year where people were making out that we basically had 3 players for most positions without considering that with just 2 injuries we'd struggle to name a team without having somebody playing out of position. (I think it was Koren and Hobbs I used)
It's not tougher though. People say that every season, and yet since we came down the standard has been way below what it was when we got promoted. We've added to what was a good team but a crap squad last season, if we don't do better than last season then it's down to piss poor management of the resources available and not down to poor resources. EDIT: We definitely need to do something about Cairney's injury, and I'd try to offload a few and replace them, but people can't say the squad depth is weaker this season than last.
Personal I would of kept Stewart, but see the reasons why has been let go. If we let him go I have this feeling we might regrett it, so hopefully goes to Burnley gets some games and comes back a better player.
That's an utterly ridiculous post. You're basically saying you don't give a **** about watching the game to see a player's strenghts, all that counts is the numbers. Why bother going to games? If having good shots doesn't prove that you can shoot, what does?
Saturday? Amos Rosenior Chester Faye Dudgeon Elmo Oli Koren Quinn Simpson Aluko or Amos Chester Faye Bruce Elmo Evans Koren Oli Quinn Aluko Simpson
Same, but then I wouldn't be playing 532 in order to accommodate playing 2 strikers and Koren in the middle either. I'd have been looking for a defensive midfielder that would allow us to play Koren in an advanced role in the middle of a 4 man midfield. As Bruce seems to have decided on 532 being his system of choice there's not much point keeping hold of an attacking winger.
Now official Hull City Official ‏@hullcityteam Cameron Stewart has joined Championship side Burnley on a three-month loan deal #hcafc Also I love Horsham didn't even mention McLean; it should be him and Simpson upfront on Saturday, Evans IMO on the bunch
What on earth are some of you lot on? Stewart hasn't put in a run of decent performances for two seasons. He's done absolutely nothing recently, much better to send him off somewhere where he is more likely to play, and maybe he'll buck his ideas up and come back a better player, or if not, we get rid. What is there to lose? The alternative is to keep him and vainly hope he might become the player he could be. I think Bruce has called it right here, Quinn looks a better bet.
So if we have the same number of players in every position apart from out wide, then we don't we have a smaller squad?
But we've brought in two wide players - if we do stick to 5-3-2 what does this mean for likes of Dudgeon/Rosenior? Of all players to drop, it certainly shouldn't be those two.
3 month loan deal = emergency loan for maximum of 93 days, because you can't have a long term loan end outside of a transfer window. If it's an emergency loan we can recall him at any point after 28 days if we need him, and we've only got one game in the first 14 days of the loan so he's not necessarily gone for long.
McLean and Simpson sounds good to me but where is Aluko going? Bruce won't drop Proschwitz will he? McLean and Simpson have both got two goals this season but probably won't start together....
Its 5 - 3 - 2 when we dont have the ball and 3 - 5 - 2 when we do. As long as we win the formation does not matter.
Dudge stays as wing back. Quinn (since he's a scrapper as well and McKenna pissed Bruce off) plays just inside alongside Evans with Koren in front away from home (Aluko on for Koren for last half hour against tired defenders), Quinn, Aluko and Koren in midfield at home, because we saw against Brighton that Koren can play more withdrawn when Aluko is in front of him. Rosie vs Elmo you select based on form.
Bolton line-up 4 - 4 - 2 so Bruce should IMO do the same. With Aluko on the left and Elmo on the right wing. Agree with Simmo and Mclean as the front 2 strikers. The back 4 pick themselves with Amos in goal. We have a strong bench now with options.
Stewart has not developed into someone who can deliver the killer cross or pass and by now he should have done so. He never seems to carry the same threat that some other teams' wingers seem to do when they come to the KC
