So it's the fault of off-topic posts? Gotcha!

Okay, taking the Kofi role then, if the mods agree to allow off-topic threads (though I have no idea why they should when it's a Southampton Football Club forum), will all the people "playing up" agree to behave?

I don't care Dan. This is a football forum and we are in the football season. Stop kicking over the traces.

Depends. As it is, everyone on the forum is "playing up" but people seem to only want to blame one group of people.

Of course they won't. Where's the fun in coming on here if you can't antagonise people?

"I don't care" probably isn't a very mature stance to take, considering most people on here are bitching about the "I don't care" attitude of some of us younguns. But then, every single person on here is a hypocrite lately, so never mind.

I say the same thing to my Mum but it offends her. It is her choice to not have to listen to it and using foul and abusive language can get you into trouble legally as well.

Like I say I say it's only words but she doesn't like it, therefore others don't like it, therefore we must consider those others and not say to them tough luck. And with this in mind I would like to teach my children the same thing and hope that they like I understand that it may offend others and respect that fact.

I don't try not to swear in front of my parents or anyone else I am not familiar with. It is like a sub-concious thing that stops the flood of profanities automatically. Can't be too hard for others to do the same whether they understand or not the reason why they should respect other's wishes.

I don't know that's true (it seems to me to just be a boring circular argument), but what I do know is that "playing up" in order to hold moderators to some kind of ransom because you want off-topic threads is the very definition of ridiculous.

There's so, so, so much irony in so, so many posts on this forum. It's just a vicious circle. It'll keep getting worse.

Nobody has that motive, if you think people are then you should probably reassess your viewpoint.

I'm sure it'll get back to how it was in no time, but the air needs to be cleared on a few things first. The mods can't just quell all the bickering by censoring and banning people, and their joint statement threads seem to have caused a load of people to gang up on a few people.

Have to admit I also thought, if there was any thought behind it, that was probably it. What is the motive then?

You just said that that was the route of the "problem" and that if they agreed to it, then perhaps you'd reconsider your approach to the forum. So it appears you do have precisely that motive?

Define what you and the self appointed mediators define as "playing up" and I'll tell you.

No, I didn't. It was the beginning of the problem but clearly not the cause behind everything. However if they reconsidered it then one of the differences driving members apart would be resolved, which would be a step towards rebuilding.

Well shall we start with whatever you did to get banned? And follow on with your less than contrite attitude since? Not casting any judgement on whether you're in the wrong or not, I don't know enough to say.

I'm not appointing myself as a mediator I'm just expressing my own views. If that has a mediating effect then great (I sort of doubt it though!)

Dan, the whole world isn't against you - there's no need to bite back at someone sarcastically with lines like "you and the self appointed mediators" (and don't pretend you weren't biting by using that terminology) - let's start with "playing up" in that sense. The snide comments, as someone in another thread stated.

Secondly, if somebody is blocked or "ignored" by a significant number of people, then the common denominator doesn't tend to be "everyone else" - some honest introspection from people (and no, I'm not picking on you here, I'd say it to anyone who has been blocked or ignored lots) would probably go a long way. It isn't everyone else, surely?

Please don't take this as any kind of insult. It's not. It's just my own, personal opinion and rational view on the situation as I see it. I might be wrong.

What I did to get banned was disagree with the moderators. They saw this as "rabble-rousing", I saw it as expressing my opinion. My motive behind that was to tell the moderators that I disagreed with them. There was a reason behind the justice for Mr Nice signatures, you know.

    OK, I'll rephrase the I don't care.

What I meant to say was... It's actually relatively unimportant. We still have a very good forum here, after the 606 forum shut down. Most forums would have descended into madness, with the almost total lack of rules applied, but the ones here are quite good. All that is asked is that people are respected, and that during the football season the topics are largely kept to football, and it is upto the mods to allow the freedom for non-football threads in the close season. I don't have a problem with that. If anyone does, then I suggest they push off to another forum, or question whether they are taking their forum a little too seriously. It's perhaps time for a few people to stand back and do something other than frequent this board. Just for a little while.

EDIT: And by the way, I shall certainly be using it less for a while, so that's me out of the equation.
