That's a good point although I do think McKenna is strong and brave enough to be our hardman. He's not Ashbee, but he's the best alternative we've had since. As for the box-to-box midfielder, Koren can do the job, we already know he can. He's upped his game a lot recently so he's no longer an awkward luxury player who can't fit into a 4-4-2 but he's a proper box-to-box, playmaking midfielder who leads by example. In terms of home games he will probably be used in the position and we'll be fine. The thing is when we play 5-3-2 away from home we need another one and whilst he isn't my favourite due to his lack of quality on the ball, Evans can do that job.
Be interesting to see what formation he plays tonight, if it is the 352 lets experiment with Aluko and Koren alongside Mckenna in the middle, Alukos finishings been lacking but makes things happen on the ball, think he'd be good driving from midfield and laying it off for 2 strikers. Stewart and Simpson up top? or Prozzy and Simpson , remember Simpson and stewart having a good little spell up top together once upon a time
We now need: 2 central-midfielders (one attacking, one defensive) 1 Striker to replace Proschwitz 1 Back-up centre-half to replace Alex Bruce
I'm saying we need two back-up centre-halves. Cooper can be one. He's not brilliant, but he'll do for the odd game. Bruce can **** off and die, which means we'd need a fourth centre-half (as a second back-up for Chester and Faye).
No my point was he can't as he's off to Pompey on loan apparently, that's what I was saying I don't get.
Oh, right. Then I hope to ****ing God that Hobbs makes a miraculous recovery and that McShane buys Jimmy Grimble's boots.
CMs - Buzacky for the attacking one? Sean Davis for defensive? Striker - A striker who scores tonnes of goals at this level, and important ones at that. DAVID CONNOLLY! Defender - Why can't we just keep Liam Cooper? If not; former Boro CB Matthew Bates is still available on a free? Otherwise we'll have to pay some money!
George Boyd and Paul Taylor going to Ipswich for a combined £1.75m http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11688/8029691/Ipswich-agree-double-Posh-deal
Philip Buckingham ‏@PJBuckingham Told Liam Cooper has turned down a loan to Portsmouth. He's due to play for the reserves at Tranmere tonight instead.
If we need another centre midfielder we could go for Dale Stephens, Kalilou Traore or Ashley Westwood
Exactly, unknown players but with lots of talent, Dale Stephens plays for Charlton, Kalilou Traore plays for Odense Boldklub and Ashley Westwood plays for Crewe
