Mclean is never gonna be a 15/20 goal a season striker, but he's a grafter which is what the team needs sometimes. Horses for courses and he shouldn't start every game, but he will have his uses this season. As for Reo-Cocker, Bruce claims there is nothing in it.
 
Everyone seemed to understand less goals = ****e a while back
then we were linked to Heskey
Then everyone understood HIS contribution elsewhere
as fickle as a pie full of freckles
 
Mclean is good at receiving the ball while holding of his man, but he's pretty much useless at everything else, he's a hard worker, but he's not a quality Championship footballer, not in a million years.

Playing one up front and Stewart being on the wing meant McLean had a place on the bench and I thought that extra effort to retrieve the ball seemed lost. He's similar to Barmby in an impact sense IMO.

I still put it down to that we don't play the style necessary to allow him to be in his goalscoring best but also, it seems as though both McLean and Fryatt like playing with hit men so really it's Pearson's fault for bringing in two similar players which has led to a misleading image on poor Macca.

I've said a few times, I was a big fan of Nigel Pearson and the work he did here but when he signed McLean and Fryatt at the same time it was his biggest mistake in charge of us. He spent £2.5m and imo didn't get enough quality for that kind of money. That said, I don't know if Bruce has done too well with his £2.6m spent this summer yet... The £50k for Simpson is looking like a right steal.

He was in the starting 11 today, wasn't he? I shouldn't have to be here, defending a player, at the club we all allegedly support. Some of our fans are just ****ing piss poor. Forget the win, let's just ****ing moan, criticise and ****ing moan some more about one of OUR players. If anything prevents progress at OUR club this season, it'll be the biggest group of moaning fans probably anywhere. Moan, moan ****ing moan. He's ****, he's even ****ter, he's even ****ing ****ter. I'm glad I don't work in Hull because I'd want to rattle some ****ing heads together with all the ****ing moaning. Don't bother replying, just go and moan some more about how **** our players are, no really.

It's a forum, we discuss our opinions on what's right and wrong with the team, we don't have to pretend everyone is Pele, just because they play for us.

I will answer the question, Mclean wouldn't be in my starting XI.

And McShane wouldn't even make my bench.

That's not moaning, it's giving my opinion on who should make the team, that's what we do on forums.
