There are a lot of people that jump on the McLean isn't very good bandwagon - the only argument they have is he doesn't score enough? There is more to his game than than that, if you can't see it and others can't see it that constantly criticise then I suggest you look at what attributes are required for a centre forward, goals being a small part. He brings energy, enthusiasm, a willing to graft, aerial threat, hassling the opposition high up the field, decent range of passing. As I have repeatedly pointed out, no ****ing striker would have scored many in our formation last season.
McLean is a 10 plus goal a season striker, who needs to play up front with a 20 plus goal a season striker, it's quite simple really, he's a Championship equivalent of Heskey, hard to play against, never gives you a minutes time and space. Exactly the sort of player for this division.
Before someone pipes up with Barmby was going to get rid, well that's because he only played one up front and nothing to do with his ability (square pegs round holes etc)
