Mclean was signed as a 1 million pound striker. He has had his chances playing down the middle and as other posters have said his goal ratio was apalling. He was played as a winger, which i dont think he is, as he has not got the touch to play there. He does'nt read the game and makes his runs far too late and tends to be a ball watcher.
My sentiments exactly. He did his best for us and he wasn't half as bad as some make out. He cost **** all and helped to steady the ship.
Harper did do his best but in all fairness, I can never forgive him for that miss against Scumthorpe...
Come on OLM, this is just tosh. He's played 60 times for us and we've hardly been out of the top 10 since he signed and barely out of the top 8 all last season. You can't seriously think we're carrying him? The others aren't that good. It takes all sorts to make a football team. For every Fraizer Campbell, Matty Fryatt, Jay Jay Okocha or Robbie Koren, you need some Paul McKenna's, Ian Ashbee's, Aaron McLean's and Richard Garcia's. Anyone who says "he works hard" is insulting the guy. He's a decent player. We could do better, I'm sure but he's more than adequate. I think his best position is wide in a three. He's not a striker. Though hope to be proven very wrong tomorrow.
Glad you said that, mate. Because the day I agree with you, I think I'll give up and watch netball. And he's not big, I think you've got the wrong guy.
Great post. He maybe doesn't deliver in the goalscoring sense, but I for one thought the team missed him when he wasn't in. Playing one up front and Stewart being on the wing meant McLean had a place on the bench and I thought that extra effort to retrieve the ball seemed lost. He's similar to Barmby in an impact sense IMO. I still put it down to that we don't play the style necessary to allow him to be in his goalscoring best but also, it seems as though both McLean and Fryatt like playing with hit men so really it's Pearson's fault for bringing in two similar players which has led to a misleading image on poor Macca.
sorry i was thinking of that mclean whos a striker who runs about the pitch like a ****ing headless chicken.y'know the one who can't control the ball, pass or score cos hes never in the postion to score cos hes half way behind the attacking option. yeah hes not big, i must be thinking of ghilas..........no it's mclean i'm thinking of. big ****.****.yeah its mclean i'm thinking of.
He works hard, he's proud and happy to play for City, he supports the City charity to get our younguns into work. Don't we owe him any loyalty and our support? Or is that just expected one way?
Not only that, I think people underestimate the good the comes out of working so hard that high up the pitch, you win throw ins, corners, force mistakes in dangerous areas. Hes very good in the air aswell, I rarely see him lose a challenge in the air

No, but when your opinion is clearly flawed, then yes, I do have issues with it. If you don't like it don't make smart arsed responses to comments.
The problem with Fryatt is his confidence is so fragile. Its not technique it is a mental issue. He should be forced to go to a sports psychologist to get it sorted. Until he does we should give Simpson a crack up front with big nick or may be Margetts or Clarkson.
