I didn't go because I am the captain of the village cricket team, we are in with a chance of promotion and we were playing the unbeaten league leaders on Saturday, For what its worth, we lost.

Several people have had a go at me for being critical of some of Bruce's decisions.

But at least I had the decency to turn up for his first competitive Hull City game.

****ing shameful yesterday, absolutely ****ing shameful, our new manager has his first real game in charge and no **** turns up. Sometimes I'm ashamed by our support, yesterday was one of those days.

get a grip ffs............brucie wont give a **** who turns up he signed contract gets payed no matter what. your upset that YOU went.lol

I didn't go because it's 110 miles each way for me and it was on the cards it would be a dire lowly attented game, more like a pre season players not wanting to get injure before the league starts. Instead I was at my mates farm shooting pigeons, which I'd guess was a million time more fun than spending 7/8 hours (mostly in the car) watching a load of crap.

Am I a part timer?

See you all next week

I would have gone 2 Rotherham if it was an away tie because i enjoy away days but I just knew it would be a non event @ the KC and my money was better spent on 4 pints in the sun!

See you all Saturday (when the season actually starts)

I sadly (despite living in Hull) can't make many Hull City games anymore, i rely on this board, highlights and the papers to let me know whats going on. I do make the odd game...i did 5 last season (since my season tickets gone up, i couldn't afford it, same as this year) so it will be about the same this season too, although i'm in and around Lancashire alot so i will be attending Blackburn, Bolton, Burnley and Blackpool away along with probably Leeds too. Then i'll do as many midweek home games as i can.

But besides the point i think the fact attendance was down was because it was a cup match, before the season even started. I remember going to our home match against Wigan and we lost 3-2 i believe, there was about 5k then and that was in the middle of the season! and also Wigan away in the cup the season before we lost 5-1/4-1 something along those lines and it was snowing and the traffic down the motorway was mental..there was about 3k there and 200 of those were Hull Fans, you could literally hear a pin drop that game....fans simply don't care about the cups anymore, i think it's due to the fact the players never seem to turn up for them either and teams just play weak squads.

The attendance was 20% higher than the last time we had a L2 side at home in the League Cup.

Indeed and a better outcome at the conclusion to the game. I dont think Bruce snr would give it a moments thought. Its expected in rounds 1-2-3. TWS got 18,500+ for Shrewsbury and Wolves 11,555 for Aldershot. Sheffield Utd just over 7,000 for Burton and they went for one and Blackpool could only muster 6,083 for a very local derby with Morecamble.

Its fair to say that the apathy for the COC was overtaken by total dis-interest by many football fans. The Olympics wont have helped either along with holidays and families taking advantage of the good weather.

Largely helped by the fact that the away side brought about twenty times as many supporters.

Yes approx. 1200 of the 5800 crowd were Millers. I would suggest that City drop prices to £10 and £3 concessions for round 2,, assuming we are at home that is.

people are saving for the league games, id rather next sat be full and us take a couple of thousand to blackburn and charlton to be honest..
Bruce knows the score, wouldnt have been expecting many...

From the match reports it would appear many of the players were 'saving for the league games' and given that Bruce 'knows the score' and the injuries we already have, I wouldn't be surprised if Bruce wanted them not to take too many risks.

The first couple rounds of a cup game should be £5 adults, £1 anybody else

or even free for season ticket holders

Would agree with Free for season ticket holders. At least that should make sure the gate is above 10,000 even allowing for the lazy and not bothereds. <ok>

1200 my arse, they were much closer to 2000.

As if you would know. <doh> That figure came from Buckingham so take it up with him. <ok> By the way, stick to insulting Evans, your better at it. :emoticon-0117-talki

Woudn't surpise me at all. I dont see the issue actually. The game was more than OK and had a nice climax. Deffo a vfm game.

Those school kids who sat in the north stand last season next to Burnley fans made some noise. Maybe ask them back for round 2 if we are at home.
