Huge cycling events today with the men's and women's time trials. Brad Wiggins goes in as a screaming hot favourite at 2-5 after his great efforts in France. The thorn in the GB garden could be the defending champion Fabian Cancellara who's odds stand at a juicy 9-2. He was at the front end of the leading pack in the road race when he over cooked it on a bend and fell. He avoided the last part of the Tour to concentrate on this event, so should put in a big effort if he's ok after the fall. The team coach said the Fab should be 100pc today. The big question for me, is whether Wiggins will still have the legs after his wonderful efforts in France. I don't think he's value at 2-5, so for mine Fab might be the way to go.

    Fabian Cancellara.

Cyc, good morning. 2/5 Wiggins is a crap price- and how do they determine the order of racing, given the advantage in going last/down the order. It should be drawn 'by lots' for The Olympics but Wiggins may be favoured because of past record. Do you know the format?
To be honest, I'm getting fed up of all the hype over medals by the UK media- especially BBC. The Olympics should be enjoyed for what it is and, if a competitor wins a medal, let's face it- he's won it for 'himself,' not Team GB or Team UK, etc.
I've enjoyed watching the Archery and Sailing more than anything up to now. That sailing looks bloody hard work and most of the camera angles are wrong, especially the close ups.
    What's your favourites, Cyc?

PS.That was a bad fall by Cancellara- I thought he would have won that race, given his position. I hope he's fit enough to do himself justice.

Evening Tam. :) I don't know how they allot starting positions for the entire field Tam, maybe on world rankings, but seeing as Cancellara will be the last away and he's the defending champ, I suppose The reigning gold medallist gets the best start point. Who knows.

As for my favourite events, I love track. Both cycling and athletics. All the velodrome events are cool, and all the running distances of 800m and more are fantastic. My "favourite" event would probably be the men's 10,000. Love rowing too.

If Fab had remained upright Tam, I think he'd have gone close too. He was riding very aggressively at the time. I find it hard to believe that he wouldn't have gone with Vinokourov when he broke away.

Yeah, I love the athletics- especially the distance races. Also the steeplechase. In fact, I love the rowing as well. Come to think of it, it starts in 10 minutes so I'll go downstairs and watch it- with a bit of Archery too. Look after yourself. Talk to you later.

Good morning! Swimming and Rowing for me, great favourites of mine. Yesterday evening I will never forget. The victory of Chad le Clos by a whisker over Michael Phelps, the sheer emotion of it all, the graciousness of Phelps in defeat (he is No.1 in my book, not just because he's the greatest Olympian ever), the way Phelps ushered a bewildered and unbelieving le Clos around the victory parade - more or less telling him how to handle it all, the standing ovation Phelps received when he finally got that gold and to overhaul the Russian gymnast after a gap of some 48-years, Chad le Clos's fantastic Dad, what a character! A memorable evening, one I feel privileged to have watched, even if only on the square box! <ok>

Cyc: Hope I am well and truly wrong, really do, but feel the GB cyclists are still a bit knackered after the TdF?

Cyc im with you on what you say about Cancellara but i would like to throw another one into the mix... Taylor Phinney, riding for the US team has good credentials to maybe cause an upset here. Phinney won the US time trial last year and has progressed very nicely from his initial track cycling days to road racing - Something not too dissimilar to our own Bradley Wiggins... That was over a 30.1km course, the Olympic one is 44km's, but this lad has a chance never the less... Im still leaning towards Wiggins, though he wasnt at his sharpest in the Team Road race at the end, so maybe the Tour has taken a lot out of him... As for Cancellara i do think his body has taken to much punishment and that he may fall short of the required time to win this...

    Wiggins to win...
    Cancellara to just miss out...
But, watch out for Phinney...!!! He is a 22/1 shot as well...!!!

The start times of the last 10 riders...
    15:55:30 10 ROGERS Michael (Australia)
    15:57:00 9 GRABSCH Bert (Germany)
    15:58:30 8 CHAVANEL Sylvain (France)
16:00:00 7 FROOME Christopher (Great Britain)
    16:01:30 6 PINOTTI Marco (Italy)
16:03:00 5 SANCHEZ GIL Luis Leon (Spain)
16:04:30 4 PHINNEY Taylor (United States)
    16:06:00 3 MARTIN Tony (Germany)
16:07:30 2 WIGGINS Bradley (Great Britain)
    16:09:00 1 CANCELLARA Fabian (Switzerland)

(All times are European Standard Time - EST)

It will be a good race and i cant wait...<cheers>

I worry about the tour form as well, it has to have an effect. But Wiggins is brilliant and will be hard to beat. We're all forgetting Tony Martin, if memory serves, he's the reigning world champ, but don't hold me to it. :)

At least you've got some sport to see. All I see out here in the East is a lot of interviews between BBC commentators and then stills. A lot of it is getting on my tits. If I was Northen Irish I'd be very cheesed off about this Team GB nonsense. Then you get total b-----s from someone who looks as if they couldn't run for a bus let alone know anything about swimming telling you that Michael Phelps was beaten by 3 seconds a big gap ESPECIALLY when you consider it was over 400m!!! It would be a big gap over a 100m dear. Then these crass comments about us NOT getting medals.
    Frustrated of Hong Kong!!!!!!!!!

Bustino - go to www.expatshield.com and download the Expat Shield - this simply masks your IP address with a UK IP address. That way you can go to the BBC website and watch their online coverage all day, or use their i-player to catch up on things you missed. Easy <ok>

No problem, I use it alot <ok>

You can also try www.filmon.com - they have all the UK TV channels and you don't even need to install any software - the player just opens up in your web browser. Just be careful though because the stream opens by default in HD - this is only free for a few seconds. There is a button at the top right of the screen which allows you to select Standard Definition (SD) - which is free. I know Jongleur (who also lives in Germany like myself) pays for the HD service and loves it <ok>
