I think Sun Jang is a terrible price. Will genuinely be shocked if he wins the 200m freestyle. Agnel's finish tonight was incredible and also too much is being made of Lochte losing the lead when he still clocked a decent enough time. I will be bacing Lochte at 11/4 - huge pirce.
 
Cavendish was a disgrace with his post race histrionics and merely condensed his reputation for poor behaviour...EOS

RV: Sun Jang is poor value for a bet, agree. Strange guy, seems to be doing bugger-all and then flies at the finish? Lochte was disappointing in that relay and did not seem to go through with his effort after being given a reasonable-enough lead on the change? The French anchorman was terrific, however. World record holder Biedermann showed a bit of a revival after winning his semi-final, and might be a good place bet....<whistle>
 
Another non expert comment coming up. :) The men's 200 free will be a "mouth watering" <laugh> (sorry about that) affair. According to Billy Hill, the 400m freestyle winner Sun Yang is an 11-10 chance, as against Agnel's 2-1 and Lochte's 5-2. The really interesting thing about the clash is the path taken into the race by the swimmers. Yang has to step back from the 400, while Agnel and Lochte will step up from the 100 relay. I think Lochte showed in the relay that he's more a 400 man. He was run down by Agnel in the relay but was outstanding in the 400 IM. Maybe the 200 will suit him tonight, but I'm not too sure about Yang. So for what it's worth, I think Agnel is easily the best of the three at 100m, but can he match it with the "stayers" over a grueling 200? I'd be prepared to take the punt and say yes.

Good day, Cyc, nice one! Agnel was quite unbelievable in that relay last night; I just could not believe it. To repeat, is Biedermann coming back to some sort of form, as 200m is probably his best distance? The German swimmers have been a disaster so far, but this guy is damn good.
(Scrubbed last part of my comment: On reflection, looked too much like family bragging? Will send you a PM on another strange and remote 'connection' with Weissmuller - no, no, Mum's name was not 'Jane' - <laugh>).
 
Yesterday i was mostly amazed by the Under 53kg (8stone 3lbs...) women lifting 131kg's (20 stone 6lbs...<yikes>) above their heads in the Clean and Jerk Weightlifting... Zulfiya Chinshanlo setting a new world record by doing so... Kazakhstan will be proud of her...

Then to be stunned by OM Yun Chol in the mens Under 56kg (8stone 8lbs...) category lift 168kg (26 stone 5lbs...!!!) above his head...!!! Yes, that 3 times his body weight above his head...!!!<yikes>

Oh, as a winter job they crack walnuts between their legs for heads of state at Christmas... Well you have to put all that strength to some good use...<laugh>,laugh>

Maybe, but it's not Cavendish's job to be a nice chap. However, it is the BBC Presenter's job to ask sensible questions.

Put yourself in his position: home Olympics, hot favourite for Gold after the disappointment of Beijing and things don't work out for whatever reason. You then get asked some ridiculous question which clearly displays no understanding at all. Hardly surprising that he was annoyed. I would have been.

I know nothing, but asking if the result was affected by tiredness from the Tour de France doesn't sound that stupid to me. If someone had asked if Nathaniel's defeat in the KG was affected by the hard race in the Eclipse, nobody would have said that was a stupid question.

The fact is, there are millions of people who, like myself, are not regular cycling fans and are watching because it is the Olympics and we are hoping for a Gold. I can't excuse his behaviour. Not a good representation of British sportsmanship.

As regards the other example "Well that's not what we wanted", it sounds more like a Steve Coogan spoof interview.

Alan Partridge is brilliant - been watching episode 1 of his mid-morning matters at the weekend, just the opening cracks me up. You hear these really famous soundbites such as Chamberlain announcing Britain is at war with Germany, or Reagen saying "Tear down this wall" and then finally Alan Partridge comes in with "we'll be compiling a list of Norwich's most ungrateful beggers" <laugh>
 
I have been trying to find the first episode I ever saw. Not knowing about the program I didn't realise it was a spoof. I think he was interviewing some bloke who was separated/divorced and then he brought on the bloke's ex and later her new boyfriend. It was the most tactless interview I had ever seen (not realising of course that it was a Knowing Me Knowing You episode. Just can't find it anywhere.
