I don't think they're any secret, all the names have been posted before.

We were unlucky that loan deals for Fraizer Campbell and Mark Davies fell through because they both made it into their respective first teams, those were not the fault of Nick or the Allam's.

And the players Nick wanted on permanents in Jan were Ben Marshall and Adam Hammill.

I'm not saying they we're right but business wise they were already paying Stewart, Brady, Garcia and King came in on loan in the wide areas. Plus Mclean was playing there and Simpson was brought back to replace Mclean, they were probably asking why they should pay for 2 more, not all of them can play at the same time can they.

If 2/4 had come in I think we would have just nipped in the playoffs, the Allams probably learnt from that decision so I think from now on we'll see strengthening in all areas regardless of what we currently have if players become available.

Thought he was Nigerian . So may need clearance. Also we may lose him in January for the ANC if Nigeria qualify.

He was born in England, see below

Omatsone "Sone" Aluko (born 19 February 1989) is a professional footballer who plays as a winger.

Aluko began his career at Birmingham City but failed to make any league appearances. He joined Aberdeen on loan in the 2007–2008 season and was loaned to Blackpool at the beginning of the 2008–09 season. After just one appearance for Blackpool, he signed for Aberdeen permanently in August 2008. He left Aberdeen in July 2011 at the end of his contract. Aluko signed for Rangers in November 2011 and scored 12 goals in 21 appearances during the 2011–12 season. He became a free agent after refusing to transfer his contract to the new Rangers company.

Born in England, Aluko was capped by England at all levels up to under-19 before accepting an offer to play for Nigeria.

before you all go getting too excited, the vast majority of his good play was against opposition other than old firm therefore equivalent of L1 or lower championship defences.. he'll still have to prove he can butter his bread at this level.

Ricardo why would we need international clearance when he's English ?

FIFA have already given the ok for the old Rangers players to move on without any reprisals. As for Aluko his contract ended on 30th June so can do what he wants.

From a Rangers forum:

Aluko to Hull City, why no decent sides in for him?

Aluko was a revelation last season, lit the place up during the dark days, i would have thought he showed enough during last season to have EPL teams bashing down his door to have him on board on a freebie, he could easy do a job for half that divisions teams, his goal v the tims at Ibrox will long live in my memory as will his majestic performance v St Johnstone on the day Charlie Green came to town.

A matchwinner on a plate and only Hull City show interest, dont get that one.

Nothing like a bitter Rangers fan is there ? Hull City is a decent team ffs.

Aluko will do very well in the championship. imo

I reckon a two-year deal could be a huge mistake. I know we don't want to revisit the days of tying players to five and six year deals, but if he sets the league alight this year then we'll lose him on a free the season after.

If he sets the league alight then with players like ours behind him I would imagine we will be premier league bound.

And then we extend it?

it will be a 3 year deal. makes no sense whatsoever to sign him on such a short deal.

also the media were saying for days that we've signed Proschwitz on a 2 year deal also... they were wrong.

I know I shouldn't carry the Barmby debate on but when it's brought up I'm afraid I can't resist.

Owners getting involved in transfers is never a good idea, it always ends badly. Hopefully it won't be happening again now and they'll have learnt from the whole thing.

Fair point. But if we were promoted last season then Koren would have extended by now, same with Aluko.

no he woudn't
if say Reading came in with a two-year deal with an option on a 3rd plus double your wages offer he'd take it
how old is he? 32-33?
not like hes a young kid with potential big transfer money.
how longs simpson got on his contract?
theres one kid who has to prove hes a player this season.he could be on the scrap heap.
whatever happended to bostock?

I hope this gets sorted soon. Maybe it's me and I'm pessimistic (sp?) but the longer these such things drag on the more unlikely I feel they're going to happen. It just gives more time for another club to wake up.

Quote from my mate Bert who is a Rangers fan:

"Great little player scored a few for us and a couple special ones against the 'tic, you got lucky from our jumble sale lol."

For what it's worth, I think he is a very exciting potential acquisition ... in the (admittedly) few glimpses of Scottish football I saw last year he looked a real handful and I was hoping that we might have gone for him (indeed, remember posting such on an old thread) .. well done to you if you get him .. definitely one of the more exciting Championship close season signings, if it all comes off ...
