I agree with this. In Bruce's case I think that it was the pressure/chip on shoulder thing that did him - I'm sure he didn't do it deliberately.
In Clarke's case, he was an idiot.
In Bob Stokoe's case, he managed it fine. And before that gets dismissed it's worth remembering that he was the last manager who won us a decent trophy.
Its Bob Stokoes quality and class as a man that takes him out of this argument Steve not his mag affiliations. He doesn't deserve to be included in this category of shamed ex mags.
Bruce wanted derby draws as he could save face at home, and set his teams up differently to do just that, but in trying to orchestrate 'non wins', imo, he opened us up to huge defeats. How else do you explain the fact we went into the Halloween horror show in great form; got humped 5-1 (and it could have been more) then went on an incredible run again straight afterwards beating Chelsea 3-0 along the way at the Bridge? Same team, same players just Bruce negatively effected that result at Scum Park and imo did it on purpose. Nothing will alter me from that line and his drinking with his buddies from the barcodes afterwards was just rubbing more **** into our wounds.
I bet he had a wail of a time taking the piss out of us stupid mackems still singing his name and supporting him, even though he had managed to humiliate us like no other post war manager ever had (and we've had some real duck eggs try that).
