GK may not be glamorous but is the most important position on the pitch. A great GK gives the defence confidence and the strikers less to do. Love to have a young Niemi now.

I fear we'll soon be able to match West Ham's striker brigade with our room full of midfielders.

Exactly, no one knows how good he will be in the Prem, because he's never played at this level. But we do know that you get very few defenders as young as him in this division, especially at teams who are expected to be near the bottom.

Apart from flops like Gareth Bale, Phil Jones, Kieran Gibbs, and Kyle Walker, to name a handful. Maybe not in teams near the bottom, bar Jones as occasional flanking defender for Blackburn, but if anything it shows that they can thrive in better teams, and that they are a sought-after commodity who can often break quickly into the first team. I say get in there, Saints. And would agree maybe give Richardson his shot first of all, particularly in our opening fixtures.
